Responsible for providing clinical continuing education and training for all certified medical providers. Identifies didactic and/or skill competency concerns, formulates a corrective plan of action, and provides remediation of providers as needed. Along with the Quality Improvement Specialists, monitors clinical quality performance through retrospective review of patient care reports and data analysis of clinical measures that support the organization's quality improvement functions and clinical research efforts. Assesses paramedic and EMT core knowledge and skill competency through the use of validated scenarios which interact with advanced technology human patient simulators, against a realistic setting or environment. Evaluates field personnel performance through field observations; conducts remedial training for those EMTs who are identified as in need through simulation, testing, or quality improvement processes; along with the Quality Improvement Specialists, performs retrospective quality review of electronic patient care report data for selected priorities and categories. Evaluates new employee candidates through the Assessment Center process by assessing medical knowledge, psychomotor skill sets, and affect; develops and implements changes to the assessment center process in concert with Human Resources. Assists with training and development of new employees through the New Employee Orientation program; develops, coordinates, and delivers continuing education programs; creates, administers, and assesses all examination material. Develops and implements assessment tools used in the evaluation of current employees for clinically related promotional processes; assists with implementing clinical quality improvement strategies; assists with clinical research projects. Observes field employees on calls and may direct clinical care or operational decisions when necessary; develops and implements various assessment models which evaluate the clinical competency of patient care providers to maintain local credentialing; investigates and reviews medical incidents; represents Clinical Services in the Medical Incident Review Processes; provides resultant remediation; tracks, documents, and reports remedial training progress to the medical director or designee. Evaluates the need for and provides feedback on new equipment, formulary, and protocol proposals; provides support and maintenance for all training supplies and equipment; assists with operation of video production equipment and multimedia aides. Documents, tracks, and maintains records pertaining to employee credentialing at both local and state levels. Liaisons with South Carolina Bureau of EMS regarding credentialing requirements for providers. Ensures EMS compliance with South Carolina Bureau of EMS to maintain the organization's teaching institution designation. A.S. degree-Recommended but not required. Instructor Methodology Course; minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Paramedic Training Specialist.SC paramedic. Ability to obtain paramedic instructor within one (1) year of hire date. ACLS/PALS/BLS Instructor. Must have a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
