About the Role
The Physical Therapist Assistant plays an important role in helping residents improve mobility, strength, balance, and functional independence. Working under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, the PTA provides skilled interventions to support residents in achieving their individualized therapy goals.
This position includes:
Providing physical therapy treatments according to established treatment plans
Assisting residents with exercises, mobility training, balance, strength, and functional activities
Monitoring resident responses to treatment and communicating progress to the supervising Physical Therapist
Documenting treatments and resident progress accurately
Collaborating with residents, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary care team
Providing coverage for scheduled staff PTO and vacation, with a particular need for coverage at the end of December
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of one (1) year rehabilitation experience in a setting serving the same age/type of patient population served by this facility. Prefer active membership in the state and national American Physical Therapy Association.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program. Current license or eligible for license under statutes in the state of Mississippi. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Adequate computer skills in order to complete required job duties and computerized documentation. Ability to understand and follow the directions of the Physical Therapist and the policies and procedures of Methodist Senior Services.
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk, bend, drive, stand, sit and reach constantly during an eight (8) hour day/shift. Ability to speak and hear to understand and give directions. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess and monitor patient/resident needs, maintain accurate records, understand directions and recognize people. Fine and gross motor skills. Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in the community. Work endurance ability to work eight (8) hour days/shifts. Ability to participate in sustained activity for up to three and one-half (3.5) hours at a time. Reading and comprehension skills for analyzing reports, charts and correspondence. Possesses highly developed communication and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions: Typical therapy clinic environment. Requires ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends. Strong organizational skills in order to effectively maintain multiple projects simultaneously. Requires creativity as well as the ability to work independently. Ability to be discreet and maintain confidential information.
