Physical Therapy Technician Jobs in Columbia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a physical therapy technician job in Columbia?
Focus your search on Columbia's outpatient orthopedic clinics, hospital-affiliated rehab departments, and sports medicine practices, which collectively post the most openings in the metro. The Midlands Medical Corridor and facilities near the University of South Carolina campus hire consistently. Candidates who hold a current CPR certification, have hands-on patient-handling experience, and can reference direct clinical exposure stand out most in Columbia's competitive rehab market.
Which companies hire physical therapy technicians in Columbia?
Companies currently hiring physical therapy technicians in Columbia include PruittHealth, FOX Rehabilitation, and Concentra, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Columbia's hiring landscape is shaped by a mix of large regional hospital networks, multi-location outpatient rehab groups, and independent specialty clinics serving the growing Midlands population.
Are there remote physical therapy technician jobs in Columbia?
Yes, though remote opportunities are rare for this role because physical therapy technician work is hands-on by nature, requiring direct patient contact and equipment use on site. About 0% of physical therapy technician openings tied to Columbia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. The small share of remote-eligible work in Columbia tends to involve scheduling coordination, documentation support, or administrative functions attached to rehab departments.
How can I get a physical therapy technician job in Columbia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbia is applying to rehab aide or patient care technician roles at the city's hospital-affiliated outpatient clinics, which routinely hire and train candidates new to the field. Volunteering or completing a clinical observation hours program at a Midlands-area facility strengthens your application considerably. Entry-level candidates who emphasize patient interaction experience, even from non-clinical settings, and who hold basic certifications like CPR or first aid move to the top of the pool at Columbia employer types that promote from within.
Which industries hire the most physical therapy technicians in Columbia?
Most physical therapy technician openings in Columbia sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Columbia's role as a regional medical hub for the Midlands, anchored by major hospital systems and a large university health infrastructure, drives consistent demand across those sectors year-round.
