Physician - Anesthesiology Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a physician - anesthesiology in Texas?
You must complete medical school, a one-year internship or clinical base year, and a three-year ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency before applying for licensure through the Texas Medical Board. The Texas Medical Board issues the state license required to practice, and you must also obtain a separate Texas Controlled Substances Registration and a federal DEA number. Board certification from the American Board of Anesthesiology strengthens candidacy at most Texas hospital systems.
How much do physician - anesthesiologies make in Texas?
Physician - anesthesiologies in Texas earn a median of about $215,230 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $168,750 for the lowest 10% to over $488,670 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire physician - anesthesiologys in Texas?
Employers hiring physician - anesthesiologys in Texas right now include Baylor College of Medicine, NorthStar Anesthesia, and Essential Utilities, Aqua Pennsylvania, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large academic medical systems and regional hospital networks account for the majority of consistent openings, particularly in high-volume surgical and critical care settings.
Which Texas cities have the most physician - anesthesiology jobs?
The Texas cities with the most physician - anesthesiology openings are Houston, Denison, and Lubbock. Houston leads because of its dense concentration of Level I trauma centers, cancer surgery programs, and cardiac surgery programs, while Dallas and San Antonio carry strong demand through large integrated health systems and growing ambulatory surgery center networks that serve rapidly expanding suburban populations.
Are there remote physician - anesthesiology jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Anesthesiology is a hands-on procedural specialty requiring direct patient presence in the operating room or procedural suite, so fully remote positions are uncommon. About 0% of physician - anesthesiology openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve telemedicine consultation, pre-anesthetic evaluation, or administrative and medical director roles rather than clinical anesthesia care.
How can I get hired as a physician - anesthesiology in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing your anesthesiology residency or fellowship and applying directly to new-attending programs at large Texas academic systems such as UT Southwestern, UTHealth Houston, or Baylor College of Medicine affiliates, which regularly onboard fellowship graduates. Subspecialty fellowship training in cardiac, pediatric, or regional anesthesia gives a strong competitive edge. Some private practice groups and CRNA-collaborative practices in growing suburban Texas markets also hire new attendings with structured mentorship built into the first year.
Where can I find and apply to physician - anesthesiology jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to physician - anesthesiology jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your specialty, preferred setting, and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
