Nurse Navigator Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nurse navigator in Texas?
You must hold an active Registered Nurse license issued or recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing, which requires passing the NCLEX-RN exam. Most Texas employers expect a BSN as a minimum, and many prefer a master's degree for senior roles. After gaining clinical experience in a relevant specialty, earning a credential such as the Oncology Nurse Navigator Certification strengthens your candidacy significantly with Texas health systems.
How much do nurse navigators make in Texas?
Nurse navigators in Texas earn a median of about $95,970 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $67,120 for the lowest 10% to over $127,950 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire nurse navigators in Texas?
Employers hiring nurse navigators in Texas right now include CHRISTUS Health, UT Southwestern Medical Center, and Ascension, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's density of large academic medical centers, regional health systems, and specialty cancer programs means consistent openings across both urban and suburban markets throughout the year.
Which Texas cities have the most nurse navigator jobs?
Irving, Austin, and Dallas have the most nurse navigator openings in Texas. Houston's concentration of major cancer centers and large health systems drives the highest volume, while Dallas and San Antonio support strong demand through their regional hospital networks, specialty clinics, and growing suburban campuses that serve rapidly expanding patient populations.
Are there remote nurse navigator jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely administrative fields since nurse navigator work involves direct patient interaction, care coordination calls, and on-site clinical collaboration. About 17% of nurse navigator openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting a limited but real segment of the market. Telephonic triage, insurance navigation, and post-discharge follow-up roles are the functions most likely to be performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a nurse navigator in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a clinical nursing role in oncology, cardiac care, or case management into a navigation position at the same employer. Large Texas systems like Baylor Scott and White Health and Memorial Hermann run new-graduate residency programs that include care coordination rotations, building the foundational skills navigation teams look for. Earning a patient navigation certificate and volunteering on a multidisciplinary care team strengthens your application considerably before you transition directly into a navigation role.
Where can I find and apply to nurse navigator jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to nurse navigator jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers actively hiring. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your specialty and experience level, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
