Physician Assistant Jobs in Tampa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a physician assistant job in Tampa?
Focus your search on Tampa's major hospital systems, multi-specialty group practices, and the growing urgent care and ambulatory surgery center market concentrated in Westshore, New Tampa, and Brandon. Candidates with surgical or emergency medicine experience are in particularly strong demand locally. Tailoring your application to reflect Tampa's high volume of orthopedic, cardiology, and oncology practices gives you a clear edge over generalist applicants.
Which companies hire physician assistants in Tampa?
Companies currently hiring physician assistants in Tampa include Women's Care, Tampa General Hospital, and Tampa Family Health Centers, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Tampa's hiring is driven by a mix of large health systems, Veterans Affairs facilities, and independent specialty group practices throughout the greater metro area.
Are there remote physician assistant jobs in Tampa?
Yes, though remote opportunities are limited since most physician assistant roles require direct patient care on-site. About 7% of physician assistant openings tied to Tampa are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which reflects the broader hands-on nature of the profession. The roles most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements in Tampa are utilization review, telemedicine consultation, and case management positions.
How can I get a physician assistant job in Tampa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Tampa is through clinical rotations or new-graduate programs at the large hospital systems anchored in the Medical Arts District and South Tampa. Entry-level candidates often start in urgent care or inpatient medicine settings, which offer structured supervision and broader exposure. Highlighting any Tampa-area preceptorship experience and obtaining DEA registration before applying noticeably strengthens new-graduate applications locally.
