Physician Assistant Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a physician assistant job in Boston?
Focus your search on the Longwood Medical Area, where Boston's densest cluster of academic medical centers, teaching hospitals, and specialty practices hire year-round. Community health centers in neighborhoods like Jamaica Plain and Roxbury consistently recruit PAs for primary care roles. Candidates with experience in emergency medicine, oncology, or surgical specialties have an edge, and direct applications to hospital systems tend to move faster than general job board submissions.
Which companies hire physician assistants in Boston?
Boston physician assistant roles are posted by Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Boston Children's Hospital and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Boston's hiring is driven by a mix of large academic medical systems, federally qualified health centers, and growing multispecialty outpatient groups tied to the city's life sciences corridor.
Are there remote physician assistant jobs in Boston?
Yes, though remote work is uncommon for hands-on clinical roles and more available for utilization review, telehealth triage, and case management positions. About 23% of physician assistant openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with telehealth platforms and insurance-adjacent employers accounting for most of those opportunities.
How can I get a physician assistant job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boston is targeting federally qualified health centers and community health organizations, which routinely hire new graduates for primary care and preventive medicine roles. Boston Medical Center and neighborhood health centers in Dorchester and East Boston have a history of bringing on early-career PAs. Completing rotations at Boston-area training sites and building a network through local clinical placements gives candidates a meaningful advantage over remote applicants.
Which industries hire the most physician assistants in Boston?
Boston physician assistant roles concentrate in Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Boston's position as a global hub for academic medicine and life sciences research sustains unusually deep and consistent hiring across those sectors compared to most other U.S. cities.
