Job Summary

The sky is no longer the limit as Nidec takes its technology off the ground and into the Aerospace market. As a Procurement Director with the Nidec Aerospace team, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise to support the development and production of propulsion systems for the battery-powered aircrafts that will enable the world to sustainably and efficiently get from point A to point B.
Nidec is the world’s leading electric motor manufacturer and a true pioneer in electrification across a wide array of industries since its foundation in 1973, ranging from appliance, energy infrastructure, to ground transportation. Nidec Aerospace is a newly created Joint Venture between Nidec and Embraer which intends to take a leading role in the Electrification of Aircrafts. From ideation to production, you will work with a diverse and experienced team of design engineers to support aerospace industry leaders and spearhead technological advances in transport decarbonization.
Job Description
In this position, the candidate will lead the Aerospace Procurement team responsible for sourcing components for motors and electronic controllers. This is a critical role to support new product development and ensure that the company maintains a strong base of aerospace suppliers with favorable pricing and purchasing conditions.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Build a Procurement Organization structure capable of supporting company’s strategic initiatives.
- Create and maintain a strong base of aerospace certified suppliers.
- Define and implement data driven strategies to mitigate risk, reduce spending, improve cash flow and optimize company’s financial and operational performances.
- Participate directly in the negotiation of price and purchasing conditions on major purchase orders and supply agreements.
- Create and implement supply chain KPI’s to measure performance and monitor trends to reduce spendings, alleviate risks, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Foster strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a cost-effective direct procurement ecosystem.
- Collaborate with suppliers to drive continuous improvement in quality, cost, on-time delivery and innovation.
- Work closely with procurement organizations of parent companies to leverage their size and their contracts for key commodities.
- Oversee the procurement process, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations and ethical standards.
- Implement processes to support the SIOP process of the plants.
- Work with quality team to ensure that suppliers are complying with aerospace quality standards.
- Support New Product Development with early identification of potential suppliers and costing activities.
- Establish process for regular supplier business reviews to ensure our suppliers are accountable to company’s expectations for quality, cost, and delivery.
- Actively collaborate with Engineering and Suppliers to develop and implement Value Add/Value Engineering processes to improve the cost of our materials.
- Anticipated travel up to 50% both domestic and international.
