The Product Support Engineer (PSE) provides technical support for the product portfolio of in-service products, that may include pressurized cylinders, consumer products/appliances, HVAC components, tools, or construction materials. This role provides post‑launch technical product support, including evaluation and approval of engineering and artwork changes, configuration management, product marking compliance, and resolution of product application issues, while continually improving the quality of products. Responsibilities include supporting product performance improvement, cost‑reduction initiatives, and providing technical collaboration with engineering, sales, marketing, suppliers, and customers. The position may participate with New Product Development (NPD) and cross‑functional teams, ensuring product designs consider applicable domestic and international regulatory requirements, certification standards, and industry best practices.
The PSE will be relied upon to support continual improvement in order to enhance technical effectiveness, quality assurance, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical/engineering support for fielded products. Support may span initiatives including product performance improvement, supplier work transfer, part obsolescence, or design change for manufacturability and/or cost reduction.
- Review product designs/concepts and advise New Product Development (NPD) engineering teams of applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards while utilizing various Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools and driving Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) as needed in support of product life cycle.
- Configuration control/management review and approval of Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and Artwork Change Requests (ACR) for appropriate product markings.
- Provide technical support for product engineering, sales, marketing, purchasing, supplier quality, and customer inquiries for post-launch and in-service products.
- Support continual improvement with sites to improve quality performance and timely completion of quality activity, while ensuring compliance with relevant domestic/international codes, regulations and customer requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Experience
- BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Entry level experience with systems integration and configuration management of structural/mechanical components, industrial consumer products, or similar devices in a manufacturing environment.
- Effective communication across functional roles across the business, both verbal and written.
- Preferred, CAD/CAE and product data management (PDM) proficiency (e.g., SolidWorks)
- Travel may vary up to 20%.
