Job Overview:
APTIM LFG Specialties is seeking a Controls and Electrical Engineer to oversee the programming, design, refinement, and integration of our manufactured equipment. The ideal candidate has a background in electrical engineering and uses PLC programming products, primarily those made by Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley. Familiarity with interpreting and developing P&IDs, logic diagrams, and wiring diagrams. May also support procurement and construction phases or projects with engineering knowledge and experience. Will be responsible for working with Electrical CAD Designer to develop process ladder logic, OIT's, and configuring PLCs to meet project requirements along with control panel diagrams, wiring diagrams, and verifying proper functionality.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations (e.g., voltage-drop, short-circuit, protection and coordination, harmonics, lighting, etc.), CAD design, specification development, testing, programming, and drawings development.
- Develop and document new PLC control and monitoring systems from concept to qualification while conforming to applicable standards.
- Maintain configuration/version control of PLC source code. Design, install, maintain, and modify PLC systems.
- Understand process control issues and develop control solutions with the engineering team to enhance process performance.
- Perform detailed technical analysis of complex project issues.
- Establish scope, schedules, and cost controls consistent with their discipline and compatible with client objectives.
- Manage mid-sized technical projects and serve as the technical manager on projects.
- Ensures conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures. development of specifications and standards, and performance of detailed engineering.
- Work on requisitions, equipment specification, and select project management related activities.
- Assist with the preparation of bid proposals and proposals for contracts.
- Assist with scheduling, conducting and documenting meetings.
- Interprets customer needs, assesses requirements, and identifies solutions to non-standard requests.
- Uses best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to continually improve products or services in own discipline.
- Conduct prestart-up equipment tests (e.g., factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests) to validate installation.
- Support to field service technicians as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- 10 + Years experience.
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or other technical disciplines. Equivalent experience also considered.
- Professional Engineer Licensure preferred.
- Experience with construction/manufacturing.
- Experience with electrical power distribution design, construction, codes, and standards a must.
- 120V AC - 480V AC, 4160, ethernet, Wi-Fi, and remote communications.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Monitors and controls costs, budgets, and other cost controls.
- Solves moderately complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions.
- Strong MS Office (word, Excel and PowerPoint) skills. AutoCad, Solidworks, and P&ID experience needed.
- Excellent communications skills: verbal, electronic, and written.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Performs tasks or responsibilities as assigned by Management.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley & GE.
- Understand and be able to program/troubleshoot relays, contacts, transformers, VFD's, MCC's, chart recorders, motor starters, sensors, switches, HMI, etc.
- Work experience with Furnaces and or Combustion systems and a working knowledge of NFPA compliance.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $90,000 to $132,000 per year. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
