The Role
As Senior Manager, Pre-Sales you support complex software sales cycles by delivering compelling product demonstrations, responding to technical and functional requirements, and building reusable pre-sales assets. You combine solid product knowledge with strong client-facing skills to accelerate pipeline conversion — working across direct client engagements, partner-supported opportunities and industry events.
What You Will Do:
Pre-sales support and solution delivery
- Support the end-to-end pre-sales process for assigned opportunities: discovery, demos, RFP responses, solution scoping and proposal preparation.
- Deliver tailored product demonstrations to mid-level and senior client stakeholders, translating features into business value.
- Facilitate client workshops to identify requirements, validate fit and shape the solution approach.
- Prepare written responses to RFPs, RFIs and security questionnaires in coordination with product, legal and delivery teams.
- Support proof-of-concept engagements; document outcomes and feed learnings back into the pre-sales playbook.
Partner and event support
- Support channel and technology partners in pre-sales engagements: provide product demonstrations and technical guidance, build their confidence in positioning the solution, and assist on partner-led opportunities when additional pre-sales depth is required.
- Support the business at industry events and trade shows: deliver product demonstrations for event audiences, engage prospects and clients on-site with relevant use cases, and document leads and follow-up actions promptly after each event.
Asset development and enablement
- Develop and maintain reusable pre-sales materials: demo scripts, solution blueprints, proposal modules, competitive battle cards and ROI templates.
- Stay current on product updates, competitive landscape and industry trends; share insights with the broader sales team.
- Contribute to the onboarding of new team members on product and solution knowledge.
Collaboration and reporting
- Work closely with the sales lead and AD Pre-Sales to align on opportunity strategy and solution approach.
- Maintain accurate records of pre-sales activities and solution configurations; support pipeline reporting as required.
- Participate in win/loss reviews and apply learnings to improve proposal quality and demo effectiveness.
PRODUCT AND INDUSTRY FIT
- Senior-level pre-sales role focused on solution shaping and client engagement for a route-to-market product suite across Consumer Goods & Services and adjacent industries such as retail, pharmaceuticals, durable goods, and distribution-led businesses
- Requires deep functional expertise in field sales automation, order management, van sales, pre-sell processes, distribution and territory management, retail execution, journey planning, and in-store compliance
- Ability to articulate end-to-end business scenarios covering route planning, field execution, order capture, promotional compliance, delivery confirmation, and performance reporting
- Acts as a trusted advisor to senior business and IT stakeholders, including enterprise architects and commercial systems leaders
- Translates complex business requirements into scalable, integrated solution architectures spanning ERP platforms, warehouse management systems, promotional planning tools, retailer ecosystems, and enterprise data platforms
- Strong understanding of offline-first mobile architectures, including synchronization strategies, conflict resolution, background processing, low-bandwidth optimization, and field resilience mechanisms
- Designs master data frameworks for customer hierarchies, product catalogues, pricing, promotions, and territory structures, along with enterprise deployment readiness and governance
- Defines compliance and verification capabilities including regulatory workflows, audit trails, image-based validation, and field assurance processes
- Leverages analytics and BI integration to deliver insights such as KPI tracking, call effectiveness, promotional uplift, and execution compliance
- Integrates AI across the solution lifecycle, including generative AI for guided selling and content generation, predictive AI for demand forecasting and next-best-action recommendations, computer vision for shelf and planogram compliance, and intelligent automation for route optimization and anomaly detection
- Leads pre-sales efforts for proof-of-concept engagements, including pilot scope definition, field deployment configuration, device and user onboarding, live field trials, and outcome presentation to technical and commercial stakeholders
- Combines domain expertise, architectural credibility, and AI-driven innovation to position next-generation route-to-market transformation solutions that drive revenue growth, operational efficiency, and improved field execution performance across global enterprises.

Product Manager Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a product manager job in Chicago?
Focus your search on Chicago's three strongest hiring pockets: the Loop and Fulton Market for fintech and enterprise software, River North for consumer apps and e-commerce, and the Medical District for healthtech platforms. Candidates who stand out typically show cross-functional experience, familiarity with agile delivery, and a portfolio of shipped features. Networking through Chicago Product, local tech meetups, and alumni groups at Northwestern and UChicago Booth also opens doors that online applications alone do not.
Which companies hire product managers in Chicago?
Chicago product manager roles are posted by Logic, CDW, and CCC Intelligent Solutions and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Chicago's hiring mix is unusually broad, pulling from established financial institutions in the Loop, fast-growing Fulton Market startups, and large retail and logistics firms headquartered in the metro area.
Are there remote product manager jobs in Chicago?
Yes, product management is one of the more remote-adaptable roles in tech, particularly for discovery, roadmap, and analytics-heavy positions, though roles tied to hardware, in-store retail ops, or regulated financial products tend to require on-site presence. About 86% of product manager openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting the city's mature tech employer base. Fulton Market startups and enterprise software firms tend to offer the most scheduling flexibility.
How can I get a product manager job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through an associate or junior product manager role at a mid-size startup in Fulton Market or a rotational program at one of the city's large financial or retail employers, such as those headquartered downtown. Transitioning from a business analyst, UX researcher, or technical support role at a Chicago company is a proven lateral move. Completing a product management certificate through Kellogg Executive Education or a local bootcamp, then contributing to a side project or open-source tool, gives your application concrete evidence to point to.
Which industries hire the most product managers in Chicago?
The sectors hiring the most product managers in Chicago are Technology & Software and Distribution & Wholesale, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Chicago's position as a national hub for financial services, a growing healthtech ecosystem anchored by the Illinois Medical District, and a cluster of enterprise software firms in Fulton Market collectively drive that demand.
