Product Manager Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product manager in Illinois?
Product manager roles in Illinois require no state-issued license or certification, so entry is driven by education and demonstrated experience. Most Illinois employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, or a related field, though MBAs are valued at senior levels. Building a portfolio of product work through side projects, internships, or internal transfers from roles such as business analyst or UX researcher is the most common path into the field at Chicago-area companies.
How much do product managers make in Illinois?
Product managers in Illinois earn a median of about $162,860 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $95,990 for the lowest 10% to over $276,340 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire product managers in Illinois?
Employers hiring product managers in Illinois right now include CVS Health, Lettuce Entertain You, and Elevate Care, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's concentration of fintech firms, logistics technology companies, and large healthcare systems creates consistent product manager demand well beyond just the largest tech employers.
Which Illinois cities have the most product manager jobs?
Chicago, Roscoe, and Rosemont have the most product manager openings in Illinois. Chicago drives the majority of listings given its density of corporate headquarters, fintech startups, and enterprise software firms, while suburban hubs like Schaumburg and Naperville contribute openings tied to established technology manufacturers and professional services companies headquartered in the northwest and west metro corridors.
Are there remote product manager jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 73% of product manager openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how central this role is to distributed digital teams. Strategy, roadmapping, and stakeholder alignment work transfers well to remote settings, making product management one of the more location-flexible professional roles in the Illinois market.
How can I get hired as a product manager in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a closely adjacent role such as business analyst, technical recruiter, or UX researcher at a Chicago-area company that already knows your work. Large Illinois employers including Zebra Technologies, Morningstar, and major healthcare systems like Northwestern Medicine run rotational or associate programs that bring in candidates from internal transfers or new-grad pipelines. Earning a Pragmatic Institute certification or completing a product management boot camp offered through Chicago-area universities strengthens an application considerably when direct experience is thin.
Where can I find and apply to product manager jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to product manager jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
