Production Supervisor Jobs in Indianapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a production supervisor job in Indianapolis?
Indianapolis hiring concentrates in automotive parts, food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical packaging, and large distribution operations, particularly along the I-65 northwest corridor and the Plainfield logistics hub. Candidates who can demonstrate floor-level leadership, shift scheduling experience, and familiarity with lean or continuous improvement methods stand out. Certifications in OSHA 30 or Six Sigma are common differentiators among applicants competing for roles at mid-size and enterprise manufacturers here.
Which companies hire production supervisors in Indianapolis?
Indianapolis production supervisor roles are posted by Prysmian, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, and Linde and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market skews toward large automotive suppliers, national food brands with Indianapolis production facilities, and third-party logistics operators that run round-the-clock operations across the metro's west and south sides.
Are there remote production supervisor jobs in Indianapolis?
Yes, but they are rare, since production supervisors are typically required on the plant or warehouse floor to manage shifts, equipment, and personnel directly. About 0% of production supervisor openings tied to Indianapolis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to be scheduling coordination, reporting, or quality oversight roles where the hands-on component is handled by an on-site lead.
How can I get a production supervisor job in Indianapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Indianapolis is moving into a team lead or line lead role at one of the city's food manufacturing plants or large distribution centers, which regularly promote from within. Employers in the Plainfield and Whitestown industrial corridors often hire entry-level candidates into lead positions when they can demonstrate reliability and basic process knowledge. Completing an OSHA 30 course before applying signals readiness and gives newer candidates a concrete credential to point to.
Which industries hire the most production supervisors in Indianapolis?
Most production supervisor openings in Indianapolis sit in Manufacturing, Chemicals & Materials, and Construction & Real Estate, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Indianapolis's position as a major Midwest logistics and automotive manufacturing hub, combined with a strong pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing presence, keeps consistent demand for supervisors who can manage shift-based production environments year-round.
