Professor Jobs in Tempe: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a professor job in Tempe?
Tempe's hiring market for professors is anchored by its large research university presence and a dense cluster of community colleges and professional training programs within a few miles of each other. Candidates with a terminal degree in their field, a record of published research or applied work, and experience with large undergraduate populations have the clearest edge. Adjunct and visiting roles at area institutions are the most common entry point for those building a local footprint.
Which companies hire professors in Tempe?
Companies currently hiring professors in Tempe include Arizona State University and Sonoran University of Health Sciences, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Tempe's employer mix includes large public research universities, community college districts, and private professional schools, many of which hire across a wide range of academic disciplines.
Are there remote professor jobs in Tempe?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on discipline, since lab-based, clinical, and studio courses require an in-person presence while lecture-based and seminar courses adapt more readily. About 50% of professor openings tied to Tempe are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting growth in online degree programs at Tempe-area institutions. Fully remote roles are most common in humanities, business, and online program divisions.
How can I get a professor job in Tempe with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Tempe is adjunct or part-time instruction, which Tempe-area community colleges and continuing education programs use to staff high-enrollment general education courses.
