Program Analyst Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a program analyst job in San Diego?
Focus your search on San Diego's defense and federal contracting sector, which generates more program analyst openings here than any other industry. Employers in Kearny Mesa, Sorrento Valley, and the downtown federal complex consistently hire for these roles. A background in project coordination, data analysis, or government program management gives you a clear edge, and a security clearance significantly expands your options with the city's many cleared contractors.
Which companies hire program analysts in San Diego?
San Diego program analyst roles are posted by Northrop Grumman, Qualcomm, and Ignite Digital and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The local market is dominated by defense primes, federal civilian agencies, large health systems, and biotech firms, all of which maintain ongoing analyst headcount to support program operations and compliance.
Are there remote program analyst jobs in San Diego?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role. Program analyst work tied to federal contracts or hands-on program oversight typically requires an on-site or hybrid presence, while analytical and administrative-facing positions are more remote-friendly. About 8% of program analyst openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Roles supporting data reporting, policy analysis, or back-office program functions tend to offer the most location flexibility locally.
How can I get a program analyst job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is through junior analyst or program coordinator roles at defense contractors and federal agencies, which regularly hire candidates with relevant coursework or internship experience. Look for positions titled program support analyst, operations analyst, or contracts coordinator at firms operating out of Kearny Mesa or the downtown federal buildings. A degree in business, public administration, or a technical field combined with any federal agency internship experience makes you a competitive candidate locally.
