Project Controls Manager Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project controls manager job in Atlanta?
Focus on Atlanta's heaviest-hiring sectors: transportation infrastructure, commercial construction, and energy utilities. Large construction management firms, engineering consultancies, and public agencies like GDOT and MARTA are consistent sources of openings. Candidates with Primavera P6 proficiency and earned-value management experience stand out here. Networking through the local PMI Georgia Chapter and targeting firms working on Atlanta's ongoing transit and highway expansion projects gives a concrete edge.
Which companies hire project controls managers in Atlanta?
Employers hiring project controls managers in Atlanta right now include Burns & McDonnell, ISC Constructors, and Gleeds, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Atlanta's hiring mix leans toward large engineering and construction management firms, utilities, and commercial real estate developers driving major build-out across the metro.
Are there remote project controls manager jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, though with limits: project controls manager work tied to active construction sites is almost entirely on-site, while program-level controls, reporting, and cost analysis roles can run hybrid or fully remote. About 73% of project controls manager openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. The most remote-friendly work in Atlanta tends to involve enterprise-level schedule analytics and capital program reporting for corporate or government clients.
How can I get a project controls manager job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Atlanta is through a project controls engineer or project coordinator role at one of the large engineering and construction management firms concentrated in Midtown and the Cumberland corridor. Many Atlanta firms running GDOT, airport, or commercial development projects hire junior schedulers and cost analysts who build into controls management. A working knowledge of Primavera P6 and a construction-related degree or internship from Georgia Tech or Georgia State materially improves your chances.
