Position Title: PROJECT SPECIALIST – Asset Management
Location: FIELD
FLSA Class: NON-EXEMPT
Responsible to: VP Asset Management & Lifecycle
Position Summary:
This position is a hands-on technical role that is responsible for oversight of pertinent vendors during the asset build, commissioning and operational process. This can involve power generation equipment, transformers (15kv-35Kv), switchgears (15kv-35kv), etc being received, assembled & commissioned on an active construction site and moving it through multiple levels of assembly following procedural documentation into a fully operational state with the vendors associated for that equipment. This position will interface with customers, Voltagrid & third-party construction management personnel as well as Voltagrid operations to ensure a seamless custody exchange after planning delivery to site, through commissioning and full operational ability.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide daily oversight of asset vendors at the site level and communicate to scheduler what has been completed and forecast upcoming incomplete tasks.
- Megger 15kv cables and document readings.
- Prepare and connect/disconnect temporary 15kv cables into switchgears/transformers and carry cables from generator to generator during commissioning.
- Prepare and connect temporary 480-volt cables into switchgears.
- While working around multiple levels of voltage as well high-pressure gas during plant operation and understanding potential of equipment when energized/pressurized and following procedures to ensure work is only completed on de energized/depressurized equipment for connecting or disconnecting temporary cables or natural gas lines.
- Prepare onsite documentation for asset’s and track job progression.
- Plan site layouts for commissioning equipment trailers and coordinate with onsite construction staff.
- Run braided or rubber natural gas hoses from PRS’s to Generators.
- Hook up 2”-12” natural gas connections to generators.
- Train on-site new commissioning/maintenance technicians.
- Coordinate all new equipment coming to site such as rental or VG owned load banks, transformers and high- or low-pressure reduction systems for natural gas etc.
- Ability to troubleshoot situational issues during asset progression as well assist vendors work through problems efficiently pertaining to electrical, gas or mechanical including any hurdles impeding forward progression.
- Maintain clean and orderly mobilization of any equipment that allows for safe operation.
- Responsible for ensuring proper flow, temperatures, and pressure levels on generator manifold during commissioning.
- Oversee safety and environmental requirements while operating equipment onsite along with assisting with incident response and investigations as needed.
- On time completion of all assigned training.
- Promotes ethical behavior in all aspects of the business and lead by example.
- Computer literate with the ability to utilize online forms/automation.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
Other Requirements
- Minimum 7+ years’ related experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry rental or electrical industry.
- Understanding of electronics, electrical equipment and electrical safety.
- Must properly use ladders and safety harnesses.
- Able to operate a company vehicle in a safe manner as well as maintain a clean driving record.
- High School diploma, skilled labor certificate or equivalent.
- Willingness to work in exposure to extreme temperatures, wind, precipitation, working at heights.
- Ability to stoop, sit, stand, or be on their feet for extended period of times.
- Able to lift 25 pounds up to 10 times per shift.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
