Design Project Manager Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a design project manager in Georgia?
Most design project manager roles in Georgia require a bachelor's degree in graphic design, interior design, architecture, or a related field, combined with demonstrated project leadership experience. Georgia does not issue a state license for design project managers specifically, though interior designers seeking to use the protected title may pursue registration through the Georgia State Board of Architects and Interior Designers. Earning a Project Management Professional credential from PMI significantly strengthens candidacy with Georgia employers, particularly in Atlanta's large corporate and tech sectors.
How much do design project managers make in Georgia?
Design project managers in Georgia earn a median of about $102,140 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $58,290 for the lowest 10% to over $163,320 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire design project managers in Georgia?
Employers hiring design project managers in Georgia right now include AECOM, Jacobs, and DRMP, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's concentration of corporate headquarters, architecture firms, and technology companies in the Atlanta metro makes it one of the more active states for this role year-round.
Which Georgia cities have the most design project manager jobs?
Atlanta, Duluth, and Buford have the most design project manager openings in Georgia. Atlanta drives the bulk of demand through its dense cluster of Fortune 500 headquarters, national architecture practices, and growing technology sector, while Savannah's established design and architecture community tied to the Savannah College of Art and Design generates consistent regional openings, and Augusta's expanding healthcare and government contracting base adds further opportunity.
Are there remote design project manager jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields. About 60% of design project manager openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the coordination, planning, and client communication in this role can be handled digitally. The most remote-compatible parts of the work include project tracking, stakeholder reporting, and design review cycles, while on-site presence is typically needed for client presentations or facility walkthroughs.
How can I get hired as a design project manager in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a coordinator or junior project manager role at a Georgia architecture, interior design, or creative agency and building toward full project ownership from there. Large Georgia employers like Cox Enterprises and major Atlanta-based design consultancies often bring in candidates from adjacent roles such as design coordinator, creative traffic manager, or marketing operations associate. A strong portfolio demonstrating organized project delivery, even from academic or freelance work, carries significant weight, and pursuing a PMI Certified Associate in Project Management credential before applying gives you a concrete credential to reference in applications.
Where can I find and apply to design project manager jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to design project manager jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Georgia openings from employers actively hiring. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, specialty, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
