Project Management Coordinator Jobs in Charleston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project management coordinator job in Charleston?
Focus your search on the sectors driving Charleston's economy: defense contracting and aerospace around North Charleston, healthcare systems along the Medical District, port logistics near the waterfront, and commercial construction citywide. Candidates with PMP certification, proficiency in tools like Microsoft Project or Smartsheet, and any background in government contracting or supply chain stand out with local employers. Networking through the Charleston chapter of PMI also opens doors.
Which companies hire project management coordinators in Charleston?
Companies currently hiring project management coordinators in Charleston include Ignite Digital, Roper St. Francis Healthcare, and Lineage, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Charleston's mix of large defense primes, hospital systems, port authorities, and regional construction firms means coordinator roles appear across both public-sector contractors and private industry.
Are there remote project management coordinator jobs in Charleston?
Yes, though availability depends on the sector, since roles tied to construction sites, port operations, or on-site healthcare tend to require in-person presence while software, consulting, and administrative coordination work is frequently remote. About 50% of project management coordinator openings tied to Charleston are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the highest concentration of flexible arrangements in technology and professional services firms.
How can I get a project management coordinator job in Charleston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Charleston is targeting coordinator assistant or project administrator roles at the area's defense contractors and healthcare networks, which routinely hire entry-level candidates and provide structured training. Internship programs at firms supporting Joint Base Charleston or the Medical University of South Carolina offer direct exposure. A CAPM certification and demonstrated experience with scheduling software make entry-level applicants considerably more competitive with local employers.
Which industries hire the most project management coordinators in Charleston?
The sectors hiring the most project management coordinators in Charleston are Insurance, Construction & Real Estate, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Charleston's status as a major port city, a growing aerospace and defense hub, and a regional healthcare center means coordinator roles are consistently in demand across all three sectors.
