Project Scheduler Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project scheduler job in Houston?
Focus your search on the Energy Corridor and Downtown Houston, where oil and gas operators, EPC firms, and large general contractors concentrate their project controls teams. Experience with Primavera P6 and familiarity with capital projects or turnaround scheduling gives candidates a clear edge in this market. Certifications like PMI-SP or AACE Planning and Scheduling Professional also carry real weight with Houston employers.
Which companies hire project schedulers in Houston?
Employers hiring project schedulers in Houston right now include ABB, ENGIE, and Net Power, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's market skews heavily toward energy majors, midstream operators, and the large EPC contractors that support them, so most openings come from that cluster of employer types.
Are there remote project scheduler jobs in Houston?
Yes, but with limits. Project scheduling in construction and energy is often tied to job sites and on-site coordination, making fully remote work less common than in purely desk-based fields. About 0% of project scheduler openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with the remote share concentrated in planning, reporting, and schedule analytics roles rather than field-facing positions.
How can I get a project scheduler job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through a project controls or scheduling coordinator role with one of the smaller EPC firms or specialty contractors in the Ship Channel or Westchase corridor, where teams are lean and hands-on learning happens fast. Gaining proficiency in Primavera P6 through online training and pursuing an entry-level AACE certification signals seriousness to local hiring managers. Lateral moves from construction document control or cost engineering also open doors reliably.
Which industries hire the most project schedulers in Houston?
Most project scheduler openings in Houston sit in Consulting & Professional Services, Energy, and Manufacturing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's role as a global hub for energy production, petrochemical refining, and large-scale industrial construction means those sectors consistently generate the highest volume of project controls and scheduling demand in the region.
