Project Scheduler Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project scheduler in Texas?
Most project schedulers in Texas enter through a degree in construction management, engineering, or a related technical field, then build hands-on scheduling experience on capital projects. Texas does not issue a state license specifically for project schedulers, but industry credentials like the AACE International Planning and Scheduling Professional or the PMI Scheduling Professional certification are widely recognized by Texas employers in construction, energy, and defense and meaningfully strengthen a candidate's profile.
How much do project schedulers make in Texas?
Project schedulers in Texas earn a median of about $98,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,460 for the lowest 10% to over $162,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire project schedulers in Texas?
Employers hiring project schedulers in Texas right now include Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, DPR Construction, and Michels, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of large-scale energy, infrastructure, and defense programs means these employers maintain ongoing scheduler needs rather than hiring only for individual projects.
Which Texas cities have the most project scheduler jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Austin have the most project scheduler openings in Texas. Houston dominates due to its dense concentration of energy, petrochemical, and engineering firms running major capital programs, while Dallas draws demand from large commercial construction and corporate real estate development, and San Antonio benefits from sustained defense and military infrastructure work at installations like Joint Base San Antonio.
Are there remote project scheduler jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields, since project schedulers on active construction or energy sites are often expected on-site to coordinate with field teams. About 5% of project scheduler openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. The tasks most suited to remote work are schedule development, progress reporting, and Primavera P6 updates, while site walks and contractor coordination typically require physical presence.
How can I get hired as a project scheduler in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a project controls coordinator or scheduler assistant role, which large Texas-based engineering and construction firms like Fluor, Turner Construction, and Zachry Group post as stepping-stone positions. Building proficiency in Primavera P6 through a community college course or self-study, earning an AACE student membership, and completing an internship with a Texas engineering firm or energy operator gives candidates a concrete edge when applying to entry-level scheduler openings in Houston or Dallas.
Where can I find and apply to project scheduler jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to project scheduler jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
