Property Casualty Insurance Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a property casualty insurance in Illinois?
To work as a licensed property casualty insurance professional in Illinois, you must pass the Illinois Property and Casualty insurance licensing exam administered through the Illinois Department of Insurance and complete any required pre-licensing education hours. After passing, you apply for your producer license through the Department. Most employers also expect a background in business, finance, or risk management, and many larger Illinois carriers offer structured onboarding that covers state-specific regulations.
Which companies hire property casualty insurances in Illinois?
Employers hiring property casualty insurances in Illinois right now include EY, Kyndryl, and OneDigital, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Illinois's concentration of major carrier headquarters and regional offices, particularly in the Chicago metro, means the hiring pool here is deeper and more varied than in most states.
Which Illinois cities have the most property casualty insurance jobs?
The cities with the most property casualty insurance openings in Illinois are Chicago, Rockford, and Bloomington. Chicago dominates due to its dense concentration of carrier headquarters, brokerages, and corporate risk departments, while suburban hubs like Northbrook and Schaumburg contribute substantially because major national carriers, including Allstate, operate large campuses there rather than in the urban core.
Are there remote property casualty insurance jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than many fields, since underwriting, claims review, and policy analysis are largely desk-based and document-driven. About 100% of property casualty insurance openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly carriers have embraced flexible arrangements since restructuring their operations. Roles in personal lines underwriting and commercial claims are the most consistently available in remote formats.
How can I get hired as a property casualty insurance in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is obtaining your Illinois Property and Casualty producer license first, which signals seriousness to employers even before your first job. Large Illinois carriers like Allstate and CNA Financial regularly hire into claims representative and policy service associate roles that require a license but not prior insurance experience. Candidates coming from customer service, banking, or paralegal backgrounds find these lateral moves particularly accessible, and completing a pre-licensing course through an Illinois-approved provider strengthens any application.
Where can I find and apply to property casualty insurance jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to property casualty insurance jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings across carriers, brokerages, and corporate risk departments. Find roles that match your license type, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
