Property Casualty Insurance Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a property casualty insurance professional in Texas?
To work in property casualty insurance in Texas, you must obtain a Property and Casualty license issued by the Texas Department of Insurance. The path involves completing a state-approved pre-licensing course, passing the TDI Property and Casualty exam, and submitting a license application. Most employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field, though the TDI license is the non-negotiable credential for most client-facing and underwriting roles.
Which companies hire property casualty insurances in Texas?
Employers hiring property casualty insurances in Texas right now include USI Insurance Services, Bethany Snow Allstate Insurance Agency, and Farmers Insurance, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's catastrophe exposure and large commercial sector mean carriers here maintain some of the largest regional claims and underwriting teams in the country.
Which Texas cities have the most property casualty insurance jobs?
Houston, Austin, and Bullard have the most property casualty insurance openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its massive energy, maritime, and petrochemical industries that generate complex commercial lines demand, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws national carrier headquarters and regional offices, and San Antonio is driven by USAA's headquarters and the city's large military and government workforce needing personal lines coverage.
Are there remote property casualty insurance jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 0% of property casualty insurance openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves policy review, underwriting analysis, and claims correspondence that translates well to remote settings. Desk adjusting, commercial lines underwriting, and policy servicing roles are the most consistently remote, while field adjusting and in-person inspections remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a property casualty insurance professional in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a claims trainee or customer service representative role at a large Texas carrier, where on-the-job licensing support is common. USAA in San Antonio and State Farm's regional offices run structured associate programs that bring in candidates without prior insurance experience and sponsor their TDI licensure. Candidates with adjacent backgrounds in finance, customer service, or paralegal work have a natural advantage, and earning the TDI Property and Casualty license before applying puts an inexperienced candidate ahead of most competition.
Where can I find and apply to property casualty insurance jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to property casualty insurance jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across carriers, agencies, and third-party administrators. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty and apply directly to the employers posting them.
