VP Of Engineering Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a vp of engineering in Texas?
Most vp of engineering roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, though a master's degree is increasingly common at large Texas employers in aerospace, semiconductors, and cloud technology. There is no state-issued license required specifically for this title in Texas. The typical path runs through individual contributor engineering roles, then engineering manager, then director, before advancing to vice president at companies like those headquartered in Austin, Houston, or the Dallas-Fort Worth technology corridor.
How much do VP of engineerings make in Texas?
VP of engineerings in Texas earn a median of about $171,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $120,460 for the lowest 10% to over $277,790 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire vp of engineerings in Texas?
Employers hiring vp of engineerings in Texas right now include Bank of America, Integrated Power Services, and Dal-Tile, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of semiconductor manufacturers, defense contractors, and enterprise software companies means demand is distributed across multiple industries rather than centered in one sector.
Which Texas cities have the most vp of engineering jobs?
Dallas, Addison, and Irving have the most vp of engineering openings in Texas. Austin's growth as a major technology hub anchors demand there, while Houston's strength in energy technology and aerospace drives consistent hiring, and Dallas-Fort Worth's large corporate headquarters base, including financial technology and telecommunications firms, supports steady senior engineering leadership roles.
Are there remote vp of engineering jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, since vp of engineering is a strategic leadership role that relies on meetings, documentation, and cross-functional communication rather than physical presence. About 0% of vp of engineering openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of the work. The portions of the role most likely to stay fully remote are roadmap planning, architectural review, and recruiting, while team all-hands and board presentations often require on-site attendance.
How can I get hired as a vp of engineering in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building depth as an engineering manager or director first, then pursuing a vp role once you can point to a team you scaled or a product you shipped end-to-end. Large Texas employers in Austin and Dallas, including enterprise software firms and defense contractors, regularly hire engineering directors from adjacent roles in program management, solutions architecture, or technical product management. Completing an MBA or executive engineering leadership program at a Texas university can accelerate the timeline and signal readiness for a first vp appointment.
Where can I find and apply to vp of engineering jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to vp of engineering jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers across Austin, Houston, Dallas, and beyond. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to each one.
