The Vice President, Engineering is a strategic technology leader responsible for defining the execution strategy, engineering practices, and architectural principles across our entire application landscape. In this role, you will lead, mentor, and scale high-performing, multi-pod engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient software solutions. You will partner closely with Product Management, Security, and Infrastructure leaders to align engineering velocity with enterprise business goals, driving innovation while actively managing technical debt.
Work location:
This role requires in-office presence 5 days a week at our Venue support center, supporting our venues during standard business hours.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Define and execute the long-term roadmap for AI enabled software engineering initiatives, shared services, and modern application deployment. Lead and scale multi-agent AI ecosystems and autonomous assistants across the entire SDLC; establish guardrails for AI-generated code, prompt chains, and agentic workflows to safely maximize engineering velocity.
- Oversee engineering execution across multiple parallel development cycles, ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality consumer and enterprise features using Agile frameworks. Institutionalize and enforce software engineering standards, including comprehensive CI/CD pipelines, automated coding and testing, and secure software supply chain practices. Establish clear SLAs, technical observability standards, and root-cause analysis (RCA) metrics to guarantee system reliability and fast incident resolution.

Collaborate with Information Security and compliance teams to proactively identify, mitigate, and resolve software risks.
- Act as an organization-wide mentor, coaching directors, managers, and principal engineers while fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture. Work with Product Management and PMO to optimize IT resource capabilities and capacity across projects.
- Oversee key software vendor relationships, licensing compliance, and contract negotiations to control technology spend efficiently.
- Responsible for the engineering budget and execution; establish disciplined Cloud FinOps practices to optimize spend (AWS/Azure/GCP) and accurately forecast costs relative to scaling demands. Formulate business cases for engineering modernization projects, balancing the financial impact and operational risk of technical debt against new feature delivery to maximize development ROI.
What You’ll Need:

- 10+ Years Deep understanding of modern software languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C#), event-driven or microservices architecture, and cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- 10+ Years Advanced proficiency in Agile, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and GitOps principles.
- 5+ Years Proven experience building secure, enterprise-grade systems subject to data protection, compliance, and strict vulnerability management protocols.
- 5+ Years Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical paradigms transparently to non-technical executive stakeholders and board members.
- High level of accountability with a strong bias to action and a desire to empower individuals on the team to perform at their best.
- Strong understanding of product development methodologies, software engineering practices, and agile frameworks.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to engage in both high-level product strategy discussions and detailed discussions around product development and engineering.
- Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Continuous learning and willingness and ability to discard obsolete methodologies, habits, or legacy frameworks when a more efficient or secure standard emerges.

VP Of Engineering Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a vp of engineering in Texas?
Most vp of engineering roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, though a master's degree is increasingly common at large Texas employers in aerospace, semiconductors, and cloud technology. There is no state-issued license required specifically for this title in Texas. The typical path runs through individual contributor engineering roles, then engineering manager, then director, before advancing to vice president at companies like those headquartered in Austin, Houston, or the Dallas-Fort Worth technology corridor.
How much do VP of engineerings make in Texas?
VP of engineerings in Texas earn a median of about $171,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $120,460 for the lowest 10% to over $277,790 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire vp of engineerings in Texas?
Employers hiring vp of engineerings in Texas right now include CBRE, Bankjoy, and Topgolf, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Texas's concentration of semiconductor manufacturers, defense contractors, and enterprise software companies means demand is distributed across multiple industries rather than centered in one sector.
Which Texas cities have the most vp of engineering jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Richardson have the most vp of engineering openings in Texas. Austin's growth as a major technology hub anchors demand there, while Houston's strength in energy technology and aerospace drives consistent hiring, and Dallas-Fort Worth's large corporate headquarters base, including financial technology and telecommunications firms, supports steady senior engineering leadership roles.
Are there remote vp of engineering jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, since vp of engineering is a strategic leadership role that relies on meetings, documentation, and cross-functional communication rather than physical presence. About 67% of vp of engineering openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of the work. The portions of the role most likely to stay fully remote are roadmap planning, architectural review, and recruiting, while team all-hands and board presentations often require on-site attendance.
How can I get hired as a vp of engineering in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building depth as an engineering manager or director first, then pursuing a vp role once you can point to a team you scaled or a product you shipped end-to-end. Large Texas employers in Austin and Dallas, including enterprise software firms and defense contractors, regularly hire engineering directors from adjacent roles in program management, solutions architecture, or technical product management. Completing an MBA or executive engineering leadership program at a Texas university can accelerate the timeline and signal readiness for a first vp appointment.
Where can I find and apply to vp of engineering jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to vp of engineering jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers across Austin, Houston, Dallas, and beyond. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to each one.
