Market Development Specialist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a market development specialist in Texas?
A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a closely related field is the standard starting point for market development specialist roles in Texas. The role carries no state-issued license or registration requirement. Texas employers typically look for candidates who have completed internships or entry-level sales roles, and earning a recognized certification such as Certified Professional Sales Person or HubSpot Sales Software credential strengthens a candidacy considerably in the competitive Dallas and Houston markets.
How much do market development specialists make in Texas?
Market development specialists in Texas earn a median of about $72,520 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,640 for the lowest 10% to over $135,710 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire market development specialists in Texas?
Employers hiring market development specialists in Texas right now include ExxonMobil, Channel Partners, and Putts Mobile Mini Golf, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major healthcare systems, and energy companies means consistent demand for this role well beyond seasonal hiring cycles.
Which Texas cities have the most market development specialist jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Spring account for the largest share of market development specialist openings in Texas. Dallas and Houston drive volume through their dense concentrations of corporate headquarters, technology firms, and healthcare networks, while Austin's fast-growing SaaS and startup ecosystem has added a significant pipeline of growth-stage companies hiring for commercial expansion roles.
Are there remote market development specialist jobs in Texas?
Yes, and they are relatively common because much of the role involves virtual prospecting, digital outreach, and remote client calls rather than on-site presence. About 73% of market development specialist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broader commercial team flexibility. Roles focused on enterprise SaaS and technology verticals tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while positions requiring in-person client entertainment or territory field work remain largely on-site.
How can I get hired as a market development specialist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a business development representative or inside sales associate role, which major Texas employers in technology and healthcare use as structured feeders into market development tracks. Companies like Dell Technologies and large Houston-area health systems run rotational sales development programs that accept candidates without prior experience. Building a portfolio of outreach campaigns, completing a HubSpot or Salesforce certification, and targeting high-growth Austin-based SaaS startups that prefer coachable generalists over seasoned specialists all improve entry odds considerably.
Where can I find and apply to market development specialist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to market development specialist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and target market, and apply directly to the positions that match.
