Global Account Manager Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a global account manager in Illinois?
Most global account manager roles in Illinois require a bachelor's degree in business, international business, marketing, or a related field, with several years of progressive B2B sales or account management experience. Illinois does not require a state-issued license for this role. Employers along the Chicago metro corporate corridor and in the I-90 technology hub routinely seek candidates who have managed multinational accounts, hold certifications like the Certified Strategic Account Manager credential, and can demonstrate measurable revenue outcomes.
How much do global account managers make in Illinois?
Global account managers in Illinois earn a median of about $66,900 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $38,530 for the lowest 10% to over $154,070 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire global account managers in Illinois?
Companies currently hiring global account managers in Illinois include Uber, Aon, and TikTok, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Illinois's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major logistics and technology firms in the greater Chicago area creates consistent year-round demand for this role.
Which Illinois cities have the most global account manager jobs?
Chicago, Peoria, and Lincolnshire have the most global account manager openings in Illinois. Chicago dominates due to its density of enterprise technology firms, financial institutions, and multinational manufacturing headquarters, while suburban markets like Schaumburg and Downers Grove draw volume from the large corporate campuses concentrated along the northwest and western corridors.
Are there remote global account manager jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. Global account management is largely a relationship and communication-driven role that translates well to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 50% of global account manager openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broad employer acceptance of distributed work for this function. Strategic planning, pipeline management, and internal coordination are the tasks most commonly performed remotely, while key client meetings and executive business reviews typically remain in person.
How can I get hired as a global account manager in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a global account manager role from an inside sales, account executive, or customer success position at an Illinois-based technology or industrial company. Large employers such as Motorola Solutions and Abbott run rotational or associate sales programs that place early-career candidates on account teams. Building familiarity with Salesforce, earning a Certified Strategic Account Manager designation, and targeting junior global account coordinator roles at Chicago-area logistics and distribution firms gives candidates a concrete edge without prior account management experience.
