Entry Level Proposal Writer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level proposal writer job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for strong writing samples, attention to detail, and familiarity with proposal or grant writing formats. A portfolio built through internships, coursework, or volunteer work gives you a real edge. Tailor each application to the specific industry, highlight any experience with deadlines or collaborative writing projects, and be ready to complete a writing sample during the hiring process.
Which companies hire entry level proposal writers?
Companies hiring entry level proposal writers right now include Medpace, RK&K, and Astor & Sanders, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Government contractors, consulting firms, nonprofits, and healthcare organizations tend to hire at this level most consistently, since proposal writing is a core business function in sectors that compete for contracts or grants.
Are there remote entry level proposal writer jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by employer and sector. About 40% of entry level proposal writer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, making this a field with real flexibility for new candidates. Government contracting firms and larger consulting organizations are among the most likely to offer hybrid arrangements even at the entry level.
Are these new grad proposal writer jobs?
Yes, many of these listings are new grad and junior roles that explicitly welcome candidates with zero to two years of experience. A new grad posting typically accepts internship experience, writing coursework, or a strong portfolio in place of full-time history. Look for language like "entry level," "recent graduates considered," or "internship experience a plus" to identify postings built for new grads.
Which industries hire the most entry level proposal writers?
Entry Level proposal writer roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors rely heavily on competitive bidding, grant funding, or government contracts, which means proposal writing is a standing need rather than a project-based one, creating steady entry level openings for candidates building their careers.
