Mid Level Proposal Writer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level proposal writer job?
Position your experience around ownership, not just contribution. Highlight proposals you led from kickoff to submission, the value of contracts you pursued, and any process improvements you drove. Tailor your writing samples to the sector you're targeting, whether federal, commercial, or nonprofit, and make your win rate or volume of proposals managed visible on your resume.
Which companies hire mid level proposal writers?
Companies hiring mid level proposal writers right now include Enterprise Electrical, FIS, and IMTAS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring tends to come from government contractors, consulting firms, healthcare systems, and technology companies with active business development pipelines that depend on competitive bid responses.
Are there remote mid level proposal writer jobs?
Yes, remote work is common at this level given the document-driven nature of the role. About 25% of mid level proposal writer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well proposal work adapts to distributed teams. Hybrid arrangements are frequent at larger firms where in-person collaboration with capture managers or subject matter experts is expected.
How do I move up to a mid level proposal writer role?
The move from entry level to mid level comes from taking on progressively more complex proposals, demonstrating measurable results like improved win rates or faster turnaround, and building fluency in compliance, formatting standards, and section ownership. Writers who develop expertise in a specific sector, such as federal contracting or SaaS, and who show they can manage contributors rather than just execute tasks tend to reach mid level faster.
Which industries hire the most mid level proposal writers?
Mid Level proposal writer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Insurance, and Government & Public Sector, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring because they rely heavily on competitive bids, grant applications, or contract renewals where experienced writers who understand technical content and procurement language directly affect revenue outcomes.
