QA Engineer Jobs in Arizona: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a qa engineer in Arizona?
Most qa engineer roles in Arizona are reached through a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering, followed by hands-on testing experience. Arizona has no state-issued license for qa engineers, so employers weigh portfolio work, internships, and certifications like the ISTQB Foundation Level heavily. Many candidates enter through Arizona State University or University of Arizona programs, then land junior roles at tech firms or defense contractors in the Phoenix metro.
How much do QA engineers make in Arizona?
QA engineers in Arizona earn a median of about $100,650 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,920 for the lowest 10% to over $143,000 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire qa engineers in Arizona?
Employers hiring qa engineers in Arizona right now include DHL, Komatsu, and FujiFilm, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Arizona's aerospace, semiconductor, and healthcare IT sectors mean qa engineering demand spreads well beyond pure software companies into manufacturers and hospital systems with large technology divisions.
Which Arizona cities have the most qa engineer jobs?
Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe have the most qa engineer openings in Arizona. Phoenix drives the bulk of listings as the state's primary corporate and technology hub, while Scottsdale and Chandler pull consistent volume from semiconductor fabs, defense contractors like Honeywell and Raytheon, and fast-growing enterprise software firms anchored along the Loop 101 and Price Road corridors.
Are there remote qa engineer jobs in Arizona?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 29% of qa engineer openings tied to Arizona are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on writing scripts, reviewing code, and running automated test suites that need no physical presence. Embedded and hardware-adjacent QA roles are the exception and tend to require on-site access to lab equipment.
How can I get hired as a qa engineer in Arizona with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an internship or junior QA role at one of Arizona's many mid-size software or defense contractors, where teams are large enough to onboard testers without prior professional experience. Arizona State University's career programs connect students directly with Phoenix-area tech employers, and companies like Intel's Chandler campus run structured new-grad programs. Building a GitHub portfolio with Selenium or Cypress test suites and earning an ISTQB Foundation certificate before applying gives candidates a measurable edge over other entry-level applicants.
Where can I find and apply to qa engineer jobs in Arizona?
