QA Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a qa manager in California?
Most qa managers in California start with a bachelor's degree in engineering, life sciences, computer science, or a related field, then build several years of hands-on quality experience before moving into management. California has no state-issued license required to work as a qa manager, but the industry credential that carries the most weight with California employers is the Certified Quality Manager or Certified Quality Engineer designation from the American Society for Quality. In highly regulated sectors like medical devices and biotech, familiarity with FDA quality system regulations is effectively a requirement.
Which companies hire qa managers in California?
Employers hiring qa managers in California right now include Apple, Zoox, and NVIDIA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's dense concentration of FDA-regulated manufacturers, defense contractors, and enterprise software companies means qa manager roles appear across a wide range of industries rather than clustering in a single sector.
Which California cities have the most qa manager jobs?
Cupertino, San Diego, and Santa Clara have the most qa manager openings in California. The Bay Area's concentration of medical device and software companies drives volume there, Los Angeles pulls from aerospace and consumer electronics employers, and San Diego's robust biotech and pharmaceutical cluster makes it one of the most active markets in the state for quality management roles.
Are there remote qa manager jobs in California?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields because qa managers in California frequently oversee physical production lines, laboratory environments, or on-site audits. About 9% of qa manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and the remote share is highest for roles focused on quality systems documentation, supplier audits, and software quality assurance rather than hands-on manufacturing inspection.
How can I get hired as a qa manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a QA analyst, quality engineer, or quality technician role first, then building toward management. Large California employers in biotech and medical devices, including those in the San Diego and Bay Area corridors, regularly hire quality coordinators and associate quality engineers from adjacent roles in manufacturing operations, regulatory affairs, or laboratory work. Earning an ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate credential before applying gives candidates a measurable edge, and pursuing internal team lead opportunities at mid-size device or software firms is one of the most direct routes into a first management title.
Where can I find and apply to qa manager jobs in California?
You can find and apply to qa manager jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across biotech, aerospace, software, and manufacturing. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
