Quality Assurance Intern Jobs in Durham: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a quality assurance intern job in Durham?
Start by targeting Durham's strongest hiring sectors: life sciences and biopharma companies in Research Triangle Park, health tech firms near the Duke University Medical Center corridor, and software companies clustered downtown. Candidates who stand out typically have hands-on testing or lab experience, familiarity with QA documentation practices, and coursework relevant to the industry they are targeting. Tailoring applications to the specific sector, whether biotech or software, matters more in Durham than a generic QA resume.
Which companies hire quality assurance interns in Durham?
Employers hiring quality assurance interns in Durham right now include Vestis, Fortrea, and MedPharm, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Durham's QA intern market is shaped by a mix of large research-driven organizations in RTP and growth-stage tech and life sciences companies headquartered closer to downtown.
Are there remote quality assurance intern jobs in Durham?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role: analytical and software QA positions are far more remote-friendly than lab-based or manufacturing quality roles, which require on-site work. About 33% of quality assurance intern openings tied to Durham are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with most of those concentrated in software testing and data quality functions. Life sciences and device QA roles in RTP are almost exclusively in-person.
How can I get a quality assurance intern job in Durham with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Durham is through the area's life sciences and tech companies that recruit interns from nearby universities, including NC State, Duke, and UNC. Entry-level QA roles in software testing or lab quality support often require only relevant coursework and a willingness to learn internal tools. Applying directly to RTP-based biopharma companies and Durham's health tech startups, which tend to take on early-career candidates for structured intern programs, gives applicants without prior QA experience the best footing locally.
Which industries hire the most quality assurance interns in Durham?
Most quality assurance intern openings in Durham sit in Technology & Software, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Durham's position as a hub within the Research Triangle drives sustained QA demand, particularly from the dense concentration of pharmaceutical, clinical research, and enterprise software employers operating in and around the city.
