Job Summary
Monarch Instrument is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Specialist to support our Product Quality Assurance program and Quality Management System (QMS). This position works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Operations, and suppliers to ensure products and processes consistently meet established quality requirements and customer expectations.
The Quality Assurance Specialist supports inspection and testing activities, investigates quality issues, maintains quality records and documentation, coordinates corrective actions, monitors supplier performance, and contributes to the effectiveness of the Quality Management System. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys problem-solving, working across departments, and helping drive a culture of quality throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System Support
- Support the maintenance and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Assist with internal quality audits and audit follow-up activities.
- Maintain quality records and controlled documents in accordance with company procedures.
- Process document revisions and ensure current versions of quality documentation are available.
- Assist with quality metric collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Support departments in implementing and complying with quality system requirements.
Quality Assurance and Corrective Actions
- Monitor product and process quality throughout manufacturing operations.
- Review inspection results, quality records, and related data to identify quality concerns.
- Investigate customer, supplier, manufacturing, and internal quality issues.
- Document findings and support implementation of corrective actions.
- Verify the effectiveness of actions taken and maintain associated records.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend actions to improve product quality and process consistency.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and other departments to resolve quality concerns.
Inspection and Testing
- Perform or support incoming, in-process, and final inspections as required.
- Develop and maintain inspection procedures, acceptance criteria, and inspection records.
- Review inspection and test results and identify nonconforming conditions.
- Support product verification and testing activities.
- Ensure inspection and testing activities are appropriately documented.
Supplier Quality
- Monitor supplier quality performance and incoming product quality.
- Support supplier evaluations and qualification activities.
- Coordinate supplier corrective action requests and follow-up activities.
- Maintain supplier quality records and performance data.
- Support incoming inspection activities and supplier performance monitoring.
Calibration Program Support
- Maintain records for inspection, measurement, and test equipment.
- Schedule and coordinate calibration activities with internal and external service providers.
- Verify calibration status and maintain calibration documentation.
- Assist in maintaining measurement traceability.
Customer Quality Support
- Investigate customer complaints and returned products.
- Support customer quality inquiries and audits.
- Maintain records and reports related to customer quality concerns.
- Communicate quality-related findings and status updates as required.
Quality Support and Training
- Assist in training employees on quality procedures and requirements.
- Provide guidance regarding quality requirements, inspection activities, documentation, and corrective actions.
- Promote awareness of quality standards and expectations throughout the organization.
- Support implementation of quality processes and procedures across departments.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a technical, manufacturing, quality, or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing, or a related role.
- Experience investigating and resolving quality issues.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in a technical, manufacturing, quality, or related field.
- Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Familiarity with calibration systems, inspection methods, and quality metrics.
