Quality Control Inspector – Finishing
Connect Housing Blocks is looking for a Quality Control Inspector – Finishing to join our team in Columbus, Ohio.
This is a hands-on quality position responsible for inspecting modules throughout the finishing process and making sure the completed product meets Connect Housing Blocks' quality standards before it moves to installation.
We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, thorough, and takes pride in doing things correctly. You do not need to come from a construction background. We are interested in candidates with quality inspection, manufacturing, construction, production, or other relevant experience who have a strong eye for detail and can learn our standards and processes.
What You'll Do
- Inspect modules throughout the finishing process to identify quality issues, defects, incomplete work, and workmanship concerns.
- Perform final quality inspections on completed modules before they move to installation.
- Inspect finished areas including drywall, paint, trim, doors, flooring, cabinets, fixtures, and other components.
- Compare completed work against drawings, specifications, inspection checklists, and company quality standards.
- Clearly document quality issues and communicate needed corrections to the appropriate team members.
- Follow up on identified issues and verify that corrections have been completed properly.
- Identify recurring quality issues and bring them to the attention of the appropriate team members.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
- Work closely with production and finishing employees to help resolve quality issues.
- Help ensure modules leaving the finishing department are complete and meet CHB quality expectations.
- Maintain a consistent inspection process and pay close attention to details throughout the workday.
- Follow all company safety and quality procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in quality control, quality inspection, manufacturing, construction, production, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify problems others may overlook.
- Good judgment and the ability to determine whether work meets established standards.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate quality issues clearly and professionally.
- Ability to read and understand basic drawings, specifications, checklists, or written instructions.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Strong work ethic and reliable attendance.
- Ability to spend a significant portion of the workday walking through modules and performing inspections.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn inspection and documentation systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience performing quality inspections or product inspections.
- Experience identifying defects and documenting corrective actions.
- Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with construction, remodeling, finish work, or punch-list inspections.
- Experience using inspection checklists, drawings, specifications, or other quality standards.
Construction experience is a plus, but it is not required.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role
The right person for this position is someone who cares about the details and does not let things slide.
You should be comfortable identifying something that is not right, documenting it, communicating the issue, and following up until it is corrected.
This is not a management position. It is a hands-on individual contributor role where your attention to detail, judgment, consistency, and work ethic directly impact the quality of the finished product.

Quality Control Manager Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a quality control manager job in Columbus?
Your strongest path is targeting Columbus's manufacturing and food processing sectors, which consistently generate the most openings. Companies along the Rickenbacker corridor and in the Polaris area hire regularly for quality leadership roles. A background in ISO or FDA regulatory compliance gives you a concrete edge here, and candidates who can demonstrate experience managing audits or corrective action programs tend to move faster through Columbus hiring processes than generalists.
Which companies hire quality control managers in Columbus?
Companies currently hiring quality control managers in Columbus include OptioRx, Amazon, and Forge Biologics, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Columbus's mix of large food manufacturers, distribution operations, and medical device firms means openings come from both established corporations and growing regional employers.
Are there remote quality control manager jobs in Columbus?
Yes, but selectively. Quality control manager work is largely hands-on and tied to physical production or lab environments, so fully remote roles are uncommon. About 13% of quality control manager openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. The roles most likely to allow remote or hybrid arrangements are those focused on documentation, supplier quality, and systems auditing rather than floor-level inspection.
How can I get a quality control manager job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is through a quality technician or quality assurance coordinator role at one of the city's food manufacturing or logistics employers, where internal promotion to manager is common. Companies in the Rickenbacker and Groveport industrial zones frequently hire entry-level quality staff and develop them upward. Pursuing an ASQ certification while in an entry role signals seriousness and is well recognized among Columbus hiring managers in both manufacturing and distribution.
Which industries hire the most quality control managers in Columbus?
The sectors hiring the most quality control managers in Columbus are Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Columbus's position as a major distribution hub and its dense cluster of food processing and medical manufacturing facilities drive consistent local demand for quality oversight leadership.
