Title: Laboratory Quality Technician
Location: Leonia, NJ
Company: Fortune 100 Food & Beverage Manufacturing (FuseGlobal has worked with this company for 20 years)
Initial term: 6 months (position expected to run longer)
Schedule: Monday-Friday; 1st shift
About This Role:
Under the direction of the Supervisor Quality Lab Services, Manager Quality Lab Services the Laboratory Technician Quality Services is responsible for performing routine laboratory support functions, cleaning of glassware, and general housekeeping. Non-routine duties are performed in a learning capacity under direct supervision. Responsibilities are focused on less complex testing and support functions.
What You'll Do:
- Perform qualitative analysis of samples.
- Conduct routine and laboratory support functions, such as collecting samples, preparation of media, reagents and standard solutions, stocking and distributing supplies and equipment and collecting, washing and storing glassware. As required, maintains related notes and records.
- Records data, performs calculations, analyzes, reports, and authorizes results. Performs peer review of data and provides critical analysis of laboratory systems. Keeps management apprised of progress.
- Prioritizes workload and meets scheduled timelines.
- Informs Supervisor of equipment and supply needs required to avoid delays in testing.
- Reports results of assignments and maintains and performs related record keeping in compliance with approved regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements.
- Follows and complies with all appropriate SOP's, QP's, GMP's and safety and health requirements as applicable.
- Demonstrate good housekeeping practices to minimize analytical mix-ups, potential laboratory contamination and safety hazards. Understanding and handling of hazardous materials and waste using proper and safe techniques.
- Assists higher level technical and scientific personnel as needed to learn more advanced techniques, equipment, instrumentation and procedures specific to the Quality Control Department.
- Display ability in interpreting and evaluating atypical/OOS results and immediately report them to Supervisor.
- Show versatility and be able to work as a part of a team when required.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to maintain effectiveness during major changes in work tasks or the work environment; adjusting effectively to within new work structures, processes, requirements or cultures.
What You Bring:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or other closely related discipline preferred.
- 0 to 1 years of laboratory experience.
- Ability to learn analytical skills.
- Good time management skills and have the ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be willing to meet tight deadlines and work overtime, if required.
- Ability to write simple correspondence and have good verbal communication skills.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Good computer skills (i.e. MS Word, Excel).
- Must be able to organize generated data, evaluate and interpret the results when compared to specifications.
Working Conditions:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk and hear.
- The employee frequently is required to stand.
- The employee may be required to sit for periods of time; reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Use of a standard computer keyboard for data entry.
- Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals and allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish and shellfish.
