Radiologic Technologist Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a radiologic technologist job in Chicago?
Chicago's highest volume of radiologic technologist openings sits in its academic medical centers and large health systems concentrated in the Medical District, Streeterville, and Hyde Park. Candidates with ARRT certification and experience on high-throughput modalities like CT or MRI move faster in this market. Applying directly to hospital system career portals, targeting outpatient imaging chains expanding in the suburbs, and highlighting fluoroscopy or interventional experience gives a real edge here.
Which companies hire radiologic technologists in Chicago?
Chicago radiologic technologist roles are posted by Midwest Express Clinic, Cook County Health & Hospitals System, and Northwestern Medicine and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market includes large academic health systems, independent outpatient imaging centers, and regional hospital networks spread across the city and surrounding Cook County suburbs.
Are there remote radiologic technologist jobs in Chicago?
Yes, but with limits since hands-on imaging work requires an on-site presence for most positions. About 33% of radiologic technologist openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in roles like teleradiology support, imaging quality review, and clinical education coordination rather than direct patient scanning.
How can I get a radiologic technologist job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is a clinical externship or new-grad program at one of the city's large health systems, which routinely hire recent ARRT candidates for per-diem or part-time imaging roles. Community hospitals in suburban Cook County and independent urgent care chains in neighborhoods like Logan Square and Pilsen tend to be more open to entry-level applicants than downtown academic centers. Completing a CT or MRI cross-training certificate before applying strengthens a new-grad application significantly.
Which industries hire the most radiologic technologists in Chicago?
Most radiologic technologist openings in Chicago sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Chicago's dense concentration of academic medical centers, specialty hospitals, and a growing network of freestanding outpatient imaging clinics keeps demand across those sectors consistently active.
