Tips for Your Registered Radiologic Technologist Job Search
List every ARRT credential you hold
Your ARRT primary certification and any post-primary credentials in CT, MRI, or mammography belong at the top of your resume. Hiring managers filter applicants by credential before they read anything else, so bury them and you lose before the first screen.
Filter openings by modality first
Job titles often say 'radiologic technologist' when the role is really a full-time CT or MRI position. Read the job description for the equipment listed and the modality mix before you apply, so your cover letter speaks directly to what that department actually runs.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists registered radiologic technologist openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Quantify patient throughput on your resume
Imaging departments care about volume capacity. Replace vague phrases like 'performed diagnostic imaging' with concrete output, how many patients you imaged per shift and the procedure types you completed. That framing maps directly to what a busy department needs.
Ask about equipment brand and age in interviews
Asking which scanner generations a facility runs shows clinical fluency and helps you assess whether you'll need rapid re-training. Interviewers read it as genuine engagement with workflow, not a red flag, and it gives you real information to weigh your offer against.
Negotiate shift differential and call obligations separately
Base pay in radiologic technology is often fixed to a pay band, but overnight differential, weekend rates, and on-call expectations are negotiable. Get the on-call frequency and response-time requirements in writing before you accept, because they affect your total compensation significantly.
Registered Radiologic Technologist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most registered radiologic technologists?
The companies hiring the most registered radiologic technologists right now include UC Health, Norton Healthcare, and Mosaic Life Care, with the largest share of openings in Ohio, Kentucky, and Missouri, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Health systems and national imaging chains typically post the highest volume of openings at any given time.
How many registered radiologic technologist jobs are remote?
About 0% of registered radiologic technologist openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, which is low compared to many healthcare roles because most imaging work requires hands-on patient contact and physical equipment. Teleradiology support and radiology education coordination roles represent the sub-areas most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements.
How do you become a registered radiologic technologist?
You complete an accredited radiologic technology program, which awards an associate or bachelor's degree and includes clinical rotations in diagnostic imaging. After graduating, you sit for the ARRT Radiography examination. Once you pass, you apply for any state license required where you plan to work. Many technologists then pursue post-primary ARRT credentials in CT, MRI, or another modality to expand their scope and hiring options.
Can you get hired as a registered radiologic technologist with little experience?
Yes, many hospitals and outpatient imaging centers hire new graduates directly into staff technologist roles, particularly for general radiography. Clinical rotation hours completed during your program count as practical experience, so document the equipment you used and the patient volume you handled. Applying to facilities that run formal new-grad orientation programs improves your chances because those employers already have a structure for onboarding technologists without years of independent experience.
What does the registered radiologic technologist interview process look like?
Most employers run a phone screen with HR followed by an in-person or video interview with the radiology manager or lead technologist. Expect scenario-based questions about patient positioning, radiation safety protocols, and how you handle uncooperative or high-acuity patients. Some facilities include a brief competency demonstration or ask you to walk through how you'd complete a specific procedure. Reference checks typically follow a conditional offer.
Where can I find and apply to registered radiologic technologist jobs?
You can find and apply to registered radiologic technologist jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your modality experience, credentials, and preferred location, then apply directly to each one that fits.
