Entry Level Registered Veterinary Technician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level registered veterinary technician job?
Start by completing or highlighting your RVT credentialing, including your Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) status, since most employers require it even at the entry level. Clinical externships, shelter volunteering, or any hands-on animal care experience strengthens your application significantly. Tailor your resume to each setting, whether general practice, emergency, or specialty, and emphasize patient handling, anesthesia monitoring, and client communication skills you developed during training.
Which companies hire entry level registered veterinary technicians?
Companies hiring entry level registered veterinary technicians right now include Banfield Pet Hospital, Ethos Veterinary Health, and Modern Animal, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a broad mix of employers, including general practice clinics, emergency and specialty hospitals, animal shelters, and corporate veterinary groups actively building their technician pipelines from new graduates.
Are there remote entry level registered veterinary technician jobs?
Yes, though most registered veterinary technician roles are hands-on and clinic-based by nature. About 0% of entry level registered veterinary technician openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with those positions typically covering telemedicine triage, veterinary customer service, or remote client support roles rather than direct patient care.
Are these new grad registered veterinary technician jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior registered veterinary technician roles. A posting is typically new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts clinical rotations or externships as qualifying experience, or explicitly invites candidates who are newly credentialed. Many employers at this level are specifically looking to train new grads in their own protocols and workflows.
Which industries hire the most entry level registered veterinary technicians?
Entry Level registered veterinary technician roles concentrate in Animal Care & Pet Services, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because they rely on credentialed technicians to support expanding caseloads, and they tend to invest in onboarding and mentorship programs that make them accessible to candidates early in their careers.
