Company: Gregory Construction
Gregory Construction is seeking a Program Manager to lead electrical design coordination and execution for dry utility systems on mission-critical and data center projects.
This role is built for someone with a strong electrical engineering and design background who has progressed into an operations or project leadership role. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience designing electrical systems for data centers and understands how to carry that design through construction and field execution.
You will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of electrical infrastructure scopes—including medium voltage, low voltage, duct banks, and telecom systems—ensuring alignment between design, constructability, and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical and dry utility scopes across multiple data center and mission-critical projects
- Drive design reviews, constructability analysis, and coordination with engineering teams
- Ensure seamless transition from design into field execution
- Manage budgets, schedules, procurement, and subcontractor performance for electrical scopes
- Coordinate closely with civil, structural, and utility teams
- Serve as the primary client contact for electrical and dry utility scopes
- Identify design risks early and implement solutions prior to construction
- Support preconstruction, estimating, and proposal development
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Direct experience performing electrical design for data centers or mission-critical facilities
- 7+ years of experience across electrical design and construction/operations
- Strong understanding of medium voltage, low voltage, duct banks, and underground utilities
- Ability to review and interpret complex electrical drawings and specifications
- Proven experience managing budgets, schedules, and subcontractors
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel regularly to support projects
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience on hyperscale or campus-style data center projects
- Background transitioning from design/engineering into construction or operations leadership
What to Expect
- Ownership of electrical infrastructure across multiple high-profile projects
- Involvement in both design-phase decision-making and field execution
- Travel to project sites and collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Opportunity to help build and scale Gregory’s mission-critical program
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive compensation based on experience
- Paid Time Off
- Health and dental insurance
- 401(k) with company match
Why Gregory Construction
Gregory Construction is a self-performing contractor focused on complex civil and mission-critical work. This role offers the opportunity to lead critical electrical infrastructure scopes on large-scale data center projects while working in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

Tips for Your Remote Electrical Design Engineer Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote electrical design engineer openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your skills and apply directly. Remote listings fill fast, so checking regularly and applying as soon as a relevant role appears gives you a real advantage.
Build a sharable remote design portfolio
Compile schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, and panel designs you can share digitally during the application process. Remote employers can't see your work in person, so a PDF portfolio or shared cloud folder with annotated design files does the work your location can't.
Show your async collaboration skills upfront
Remote electrical design engineers use tools like Confluence, Jira, or shared CAD vaults to keep distributed teams aligned. Mention specific tools you've used for async design reviews or version-controlled schematic updates in your resume and cover letter, not just in interviews.
Prepare for remote technical screening rounds
Many distributed engineering teams use take-home design tasks or video walkthroughs of your past schematics instead of whiteboard sessions. Practice narrating your design decisions clearly on video and be ready to walk through a schematic file while screen-sharing in a live call.
Target sectors with distributed engineering teams
Renewable energy, defense electronics, and industrial automation companies often build engineering teams across multiple regions and are comfortable hiring electrical design engineers remotely. Prioritize roles at firms that already operate distributed product or engineering departments, since they have workflows built for remote collaboration.
Remote Electrical Design Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote electrical design engineer job?
Target companies with distributed engineering teams, such as remote-first hardware startups, defense contractors with distributed offices, and industrial automation firms that hire electrical engineers regardless of location. Remote employers screen heavily for self-direction, clear async written communication, and proficiency in tools like AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or Altium Designer. A portfolio of completed schematics, PCB layouts, or panel designs gives you a concrete edge over candidates who rely on interview descriptions alone.
Which companies hire remote electrical design engineers?
Employers currently hiring remote electrical design engineers include MSAG, Armada, and Yandex, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote openings for this role tend to come from distributed product teams, remote-first engineering firms, and larger defense or energy companies with geographically spread engineering departments.
Can you get a remote electrical design engineer job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level roles are harder to land because employers expect you to work independently from day one without in-person mentorship. Remote-first hardware startups and smaller firms are the most likely to take a chance on entry-level candidates. Substitute experience with a personal project portfolio showing real schematics or PCB work, strong familiarity with industry-standard CAD tools, and demonstrated ability to communicate technical progress in writing.
Do you need a degree for remote electrical design engineer jobs?
Usually, but the emphasis depends on the employer. Most remote electrical design engineer roles list a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field as a baseline requirement, particularly in defense and industrial sectors. Remote employers also weigh demonstrated CAD proficiency, a portfolio of completed designs, relevant certifications like NCEES or AutoCAD credentials, and a history of delivering projects with minimal supervision.
Which industries hire the most remote electrical design engineers?
The sectors hiring the most remote electrical design engineers are Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These industries rely on distributed engineering teams to design systems, review schematics, and manage design workflows across multiple locations without requiring engineers to be on-site.
