Tips for Your Remote Field Application Scientist Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote field application scientist openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your background and apply directly without sifting through location-filtered listings on multiple platforms.
Demonstrate async communication in your materials
Remote employers evaluate how well you explain complex technical concepts in writing. Your cover letter and any application materials should show you can communicate product details, troubleshooting steps, and customer guidance clearly without a live conversation to fall back on.
Build a remote-ready technical demonstration portfolio
Record short video walkthroughs of instruments, software, or workflows you know well. Remote field application scientists are expected to demo products over video from day one, and showing you've already done it reduces the risk employers see in hiring you remotely.
Signal self-direction with documented independent work
Remote hiring managers want evidence you manage your own time and prioritize without prompting. Highlight any experience running independent projects, managing a customer territory without daily oversight, or completing technical training or certifications outside a structured program.
Prepare for remote-specific interview scenarios
Expect remote interviews to include a live product demonstration or a written technical exercise, not just behavioral questions. Practice running a clean, confident demo over video, and have a backup plan ready in case of technical issues, because how you handle that moment is part of the evaluation.
Remote Field Application Scientist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote field application scientist job?
Target companies with distributed sales and technical teams, where field application scientists support customers asynchronously rather than on-site. Remote employers screen for self-direction, clear written communication, and the ability to run product demonstrations and troubleshooting sessions over video. Candidates who document experience with CRM tools, remote collaboration platforms, and technical writing stand out most.
Which companies hire remote field application scientists?
Companies hiring remote field application scientists right now include Revvity, Cytovale, and Quantum-Si, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These are typically remote-first or distributed companies in life sciences, diagnostics, genomics, and lab instrumentation that support customers across multiple regions without requiring scientists to be locally based.
Can you get a remote field application scientist job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level roles are harder to land because you're expected to troubleshoot and support customers independently from day one. Companies at the intersection of SaaS and scientific tools sometimes hire entry-level candidates who can show strong technical foundations, product knowledge, and clear written communication. A portfolio of self-directed technical work, published protocols, or documented product evaluations opens doors where a resume alone won't.
Do you need a degree for remote field application scientist jobs?
Usually, yes, because the role requires credibly advising scientists and researchers on technical products, and a degree in a relevant life science or engineering discipline signals that foundation. That said, remote employers also weigh hands-on lab experience, demonstrated product expertise, and a history of customer-facing technical support, so a strong applied background can carry real weight alongside or even in place of a formal credential.
Which industries hire the most remote field application scientists?
Remote field application scientist roles concentrate in Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, and Science & Research, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors rely on distributed technical teams to support customers across broad geographic territories without maintaining local headcount in every region.
