Tips for Your Remote Industrial Sales Representative Job Search
Quantify your territory and pipeline results
Industrial hiring managers want to see numbers, not duties. Replace generic resume bullets with specific revenue figures, territory size by annual volume, and percentage growth you drove. Reps who show a pipeline story get far more callbacks than those who list product categories alone.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists industrial sales representative openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Match your resume to the product vertical
Industrial sales covers everything from pneumatic components to bulk chemicals. Tailor your resume header and summary to the specific vertical in each posting. A resume that leads with fluid power experience reads very differently to a hiring manager than one that leads with MRO distribution.
Research the distributor versus direct model
Before your interview, confirm whether the role sells direct to end users or through a distribution channel. Your answers about sales cycle, relationship management, and deal structure need to match that model. Mixing them up signals you haven't done your homework on how the company actually goes to market.
Get technical certifications before targeting OEM roles
Original equipment manufacturer accounts often require fluency in specs, tolerances, or compliance standards relevant to the product line. Earning a relevant technical certification, such as a CPMR or a manufacturer-issued product credential, materially strengthens your candidacy for roles that demand engineering-adjacent conversations.
Negotiate your base-to-commission split deliberately
Industrial sales comp structures vary widely between companies selling capital equipment and those selling consumables with short cycles. Ask specifically about draw periods, commission caps, and whether house accounts exist. Getting clarity on these details before accepting an offer prevents surprises once you are in the territory.
Remote Industrial Sales Representative Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote industrial sales representative job?
Target companies that already run distributed teams, since they hire remotely by default and know how to onboard someone they never meet in person. Remote industrial sales representative employers screen hard for self-direction and clear written communication on top of the core skills, so show evidence you can own work without someone over your shoulder. Apply to the openings above that match your experience.
Which companies hire remote industrial sales representatives?
Companies hiring remote industrial sales representatives include ABB, Siemens, and OnTrac, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote-first firms and large companies running distributed teams post the most remote industrial sales representative roles.
Can you get a remote industrial sales representative job with no experience?
Yes, but it is harder than an on-site role, because remote work expects you to operate independently from the start. Entry-level remote industrial sales representative openings do exist, especially at remote-first companies, and a portfolio of real work helps more than a long resume. Applying broadly to the roles that fit improves your odds.
Do you need a degree for remote industrial sales representative jobs?
Not always. Many employers hire remote industrial sales representatives on demonstrated skills and prior work rather than a specific degree, though some larger companies still prefer one. Showing relevant results matters more than a credential for most remote industrial sales representative roles.
Which industries hire the most remote industrial sales representatives?
The sectors hiring the most remote industrial sales representatives are Manufacturing, Consulting & Professional Services, and Distribution & Wholesale, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors run distributed teams and hire industrial sales representatives remotely most consistently.
