About KEWW & the Opportunity
KEWW is a newly developed workforce management platform designed to simplify how hospitality and event businesses connect with workers, manage staffing, schedule shifts, communicate with teams, and support day-to-day workforce operations.
As we continue to launch and develop the KEWW platform, we are looking for a motivated and solutions-oriented Junior Software Developer to help support, maintain, and improve our mobile application and related web platforms.
This is a hands-on opportunity to work directly with a newly developed, live software product as it continues to grow. You will work alongside an experienced developer and collaborate with our internal team to identify bugs, troubleshoot technical issues, test updates, support existing features, and assist with future platform improvements.
Rather than working only on isolated development projects, you will gain exposure to the ongoing lifecycle of a real SaaS product—from identifying user issues and testing fixes to improving functionality and supporting new features.
This is a part-time, fully remote position, with preference given to candidates located in the Greater Houston area.
What You'll Work On
Your primary focus will be supporting the continued development and performance of the KEWW mobile and web platforms.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with identifying, investigating, and resolving software bugs
- Support and maintain the KEWW mobile application for iOS and Android
- Test bug fixes, software updates, and new or improved features
- Help troubleshoot issues reported by users and internal team members
- Assist with website updates, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Support front-end development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Assist with PHP and WordPress customization as needed
- Help troubleshoot APIs, integrations, and application functionality
- Document reported issues, testing results, fixes, and completed updates
- Collaborate with the lead developer and internal team on technical projects
- Communicate progress, questions, and potential roadblocks clearly
- Contribute ideas for improving platform functionality and the overall user experience
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Familiarity with software development, debugging, and testing
- Basic understanding of web development principles
- Interest or experience in mobile application development and support
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and systems
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable collaborating in a remote work environment
A degree or educational background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Relevant professional experience, internships, certifications, coding bootcamps, freelance development, personal projects, and portfolio work will also be considered.
Preferred Technical Experience
Experience with one or more of the following is a plus:
- WordPress
- PHP
- React or Vue
- iOS and/or Android application development
- APIs and system integrations
- Git or GitHub
- Elementor, WPBakery, or Gutenberg
- Figma
- Trello or Asana
You are not expected to know every technology listed. We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, curiosity, good problem-solving instincts, and the willingness to continue learning.
Why Join KEWW?
Because KEWW is a newly developed platform, this role offers the opportunity to become involved during an important stage of the product's growth.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Work directly with a live SaaS and workforce management platform
- Gain hands-on experience supporting web and mobile applications
- See how users interact with the product in real-world business environments
- Troubleshoot real technical and user experience challenges
- Participate in testing and improving existing features
- Contribute ideas for future platform improvements
- Work alongside an experienced developer
- Expand your responsibilities as the platform and your technical skills grow
For a junior developer looking to move beyond practice projects and gain experience supporting an evolving technology product, this position provides meaningful exposure to both the technical and operational sides of software development.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should submit:
- An updated résumé
- General weekly availability
- Expected hourly rate
- GitHub profile, portfolio, website, or examples of previous development work, if available
If you're an early-career developer who wants to work on a growing technology platform, solve real technical problems, and contribute to the continued development of a live mobile and web application, we'd like to hear from you.

Tips for Your Remote Junior Software Developer Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote junior software developer openings from across the U.S. in one place. Check it regularly, find roles that match your stack and experience level, and apply directly before postings fill.
Build a portfolio that works without you
Remote hiring managers review your GitHub and deployed projects before they ever speak to you. Write clear READMEs, document your reasoning in comments, and make sure your projects run without a walkthrough from you.
Demonstrate async communication in your application
Remote teams run on written clarity. Use your cover letter and any written responses to show you can explain technical decisions concisely. Employers screening for remote-readiness treat your written application as a live sample of how you'll communicate on the job.
Prepare for remote-specific technical screens
Many remote junior developer interviews use take-home assignments or async code reviews instead of live whiteboard sessions. Practice completing small scoped projects under a time limit, committing clean code to Git, and writing a brief summary of your implementation choices.
Remote Junior Software Developer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote junior software developer job?
Target companies that are remote-first or run fully distributed engineering teams, since they already have the workflows and tooling to onboard junior developers without being in an office. Remote employers screen for self-direction, clear written communication, and comfort with async tools like Slack, Jira, and Git. A portfolio with documented projects, a clean README, and code you can walk through in a technical screen gives you a concrete edge over candidates who can only describe their work.
Which companies hire remote junior software developers?
Companies hiring remote junior software developers right now include Canonical, VetsEZ, and GliaCell Technologies, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These range from remote-first SaaS companies and fintech startups to larger technology organizations that run distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones.
Can you get a remote junior software developer job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level roles are harder to land than in-office ones because you need to demonstrate you can troubleshoot and move forward independently without tapping someone on the shoulder. Small remote-first startups and contract-to-hire roles are the most accessible entry points. In place of job experience, a GitHub profile with real projects, contributions to open-source repositories, or a deployed app shows remote employers you can produce working code on your own.
Do you need a degree for remote junior software developer jobs?
Not always. Many remote employers hiring junior software developers weigh a strong portfolio, demonstrated proficiency in a relevant stack, and the ability to write clear technical documentation over a four-year degree. Bootcamp graduates and self-taught developers regularly land remote junior roles when they can show working code, explain their design decisions in writing, and pass a technical screen.
Which industries hire the most remote junior software developers?
Remote junior software developer roles concentrate in Technology & Software and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors tend to run distributed product and engineering teams, which makes hiring junior developers remotely a natural part of how they scale.
