Tips for Your Remote Marketing Intern Job Search
Build a portfolio that works asynchronously
Remote hiring managers review your work before they ever speak to you. Put writing samples, campaign mock-ups, or social content you've created somewhere shareable online. Label each piece with the goal, what you did, and the result so the work speaks without you in the room.
Show async communication skills upfront
Remote marketing teams run on written communication. In your cover letter and any take-home assignments, write in clear, concise paragraphs, not bullet fragments. Demonstrate that you can brief a campaign, summarize a competitor analysis, or request feedback without a back-and-forth call.
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote marketing intern openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your skills and apply directly without sorting through unrelated listings. Applying early matters because remote postings draw national candidate pools and close faster than local ones.
Target remote-first companies specifically
Remote-first companies, those where distributed work is the default rather than an exception, hire marketing interns into real workflows rather than ad-hoc arrangements. Search for companies that have been fully remote since founding or list remote as a permanent policy, not a temporary accommodation.
Remote Marketing Intern Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote marketing intern job?
Remote marketing intern roles go to candidates who can demonstrate self-direction and strong written communication before day one. Remote-first companies and distributed teams screen for comfort with async tools like Slack and Notion, the ability to manage tasks without daily check-ins, and concrete marketing skills like content writing, social media, or email campaign support. A portfolio of real work, even from class projects or volunteer campaigns, gives you a clear edge.
Which companies hire remote marketing interns?
Companies hiring remote marketing interns right now include Power Digital Marketing, Blueprint, and LV Collective, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Remote-first software companies, direct-to-consumer brands, digital agencies, and media startups make up the largest share of hiring, as their marketing teams are already built around distributed collaboration.
Can you get a remote marketing intern job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level marketing intern roles are more competitive than in-person ones because employers expect you to work independently from the start. Remote-first startups and digital agencies are the most likely to take a chance on entry-level candidates. What opens the door is demonstrable output: a content portfolio, a personal blog, social media accounts you've grown, or a marketing project completed for a club or nonprofit.
Do you need a degree for remote marketing intern jobs?
Not always. Remote marketing intern employers consistently weigh skills and real work over credentials, especially at startups and remote-first companies. Candidates who can show writing samples, campaign results, or platform-specific skills like SEO, email marketing, or paid social often advance past applicants with coursework but no portfolio. Enrollment in a marketing or communications program can help, but it rarely substitutes for demonstrated output.
Which industries hire the most remote marketing interns?
Remote marketing intern roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors hire marketing interns remotely because their teams are already distributed and their marketing workflows, content calendars, campaign reporting, and social strategy, run entirely through online tools.
