Job Description
We are FIS. Our technology powers the world’s economy and our teams bring innovation to life. We champion diversity to deliver the best products and solutions for our colleagues, clients and communities. If you’re ready to start learning, growing and making an impact with a career in fintech, we’d like to know: Are you FIS?
About the role:
As a Consultant II on the AffinityEdge team, you’ll play a key role in delivering successful core banking and card conversion projects for our clients. In this client-facing position, you will collaborate closely with financial institutions and cross-functional FIS teams to support new acquisitions, system conversions, and merge initiatives.
In a typical project, you will take ownership of translating client data and business requirements into actionable technical solutions. This includes leading data mapping efforts from the source banking core into AffinityEdge and developing detailed coding specifications used by development teams to build conversion programs. You will serve as a subject matter expert for your assigned application—General Ledger—guiding clients through design decisions, validating requirements, and ensuring alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
From initial discovery through testing, conversion, and go-live, you will represent your application area and be accountable for delivering accurate, high-quality outcomes. Whether supporting a full core conversion or a card reissue event, your work directly contributes to a seamless transition and a successful client experience.
About the team:
You’ll be joining a highly collaborative AffinityEdge Implementations team focused on delivering complex core banking and card conversion projects for financial institutions across the country. Our team partners closely with clients, project managers, developers, and product specialists to guide institutions through acquisitions, system conversions, and go-live events with confidence and precision.
This is a results-driven, supportive team that values knowledge sharing, attention to detail, and ownership. With a strong pipeline of upcoming conversions and opportunities for growth, you’ll have the chance to build deep expertise, make a direct client impact, and contribute to successful, high-visibility projects.
What you will be doing:
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Leading data mapping activities from client source systems into AffinityEdge, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business requirements
- Developing detailed coding specifications that guide development teams in building and executing conversion programs
- Serving as the subject matter expert for your assigned application area (AffinityEdge General Ledger) throughout the project lifecycle
- Collaborating with clients and internal FIS teams to gather, analyze, and validate requirements, ensuring all design decisions support successful conversion outcomes
- Supporting testing cycles, issue resolution, and data validation efforts to ensure conversion quality and readiness for go-live
- Representing your application during key project milestones, including discovery, design reviews, cutover planning, and conversion or card reissue events
- Proactively identifying risks, gaps, and dependencies within your area and driving resolution in partnership with project leadership and technical teams
What you bring:
- Experience working in banking, general ledger or financial services—preferably with core banking systems, or general ledger functions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable technical specifications
- Experience with data mapping, data analysis, or system conversions, including working with large datasets and validating results
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including client-facing experience
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate results
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams and contribute to successful project outcomes
- Required work hours: 40 hours
- Overtime required: Yes, during critical periods of the project timeline
- Weekends required: Yes, over Mock and Live Conversion Weekends
- Travel percentage for this role: 10%
Added Bonus if you have:
- Prior experience with AffinityEdge (formerly known as MISER) core banking platform
- Familiarity with testing tools, COBOL with Unisys Clearpath, SQL, or data analysis tools
- Payments industry experience
- Experience supporting conversions, mergers, or acquisitions in a financial services environment
- Client relationship management skills

Tips for Your Remote Professional Services Engineer Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote professional services engineer openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your skills and apply directly without sifting through mixed location listings on general job sites.
Prove async communication in your application
Remote professional services teams rely on written handoffs, Slack threads, and ticketing systems rather than in-person check-ins. Your cover letter and resume should show concrete examples of async client communication, technical documentation you've authored, or distributed project coordination you've led.
Demonstrate remote implementation work concretely
Build a portfolio or case study showing an end-to-end remote implementation you drove, including the tools used, how you coordinated across time zones, and the outcome. Remote employers want evidence you can deliver results without physical presence on a client site.
Target remote-first companies in your sector
Remote-first software vendors and cloud platform companies have infrastructure and management practices built around distributed teams, making them far more comfortable hiring remote professional services engineers than traditional enterprises retrofitting remote work.
Prepare for remote-stage technical interviews
Remote professional services engineer interviews often include live troubleshooting exercises, platform demos, or async take-home technical scenarios. Practice walking through implementation problems clearly on video, sharing your screen confidently, and narrating your diagnostic process in real time.
Remote Professional Services Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote professional services engineer job?
Focus your search on remote-first software companies, cloud platform vendors, and enterprise SaaS providers, where distributed professional services teams are the norm rather than the exception. Remote employers screen heavily for self-direction, clear written communication, and the ability to manage client implementations without in-person oversight. Demonstrating experience with async collaboration tools, technical documentation, and independent problem-solving gives you a concrete edge over candidates without remote work history.
Which companies hire remote professional services engineers?
Remote professional services engineer roles are posted by Smartsheet, Databricks, and Natus Medical Incorporated and others right now, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These tend to be remote-first software vendors, cloud infrastructure providers, and distributed enterprise technology teams where professional services delivery happens entirely online.
Can you get a remote professional services engineer job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level professional services engineer roles are harder to land because you're expected to troubleshoot independently from day one without in-person support. Remote-first SaaS startups and smaller technology vendors are the most likely to hire junior candidates. Showing self-taught implementation projects, technical certifications, or documented contributions to open-source deployments can substitute for direct employer experience and open doors to remote roles.
Do you need a degree for remote professional services engineer jobs?
Not always. Many remote employers care more about demonstrated implementation skills, platform certifications, and a history of delivering technical projects than about a specific credential. Certifications from major cloud and software platforms, combined with a portfolio showing real client-facing or integration work, carry significant weight with remote hiring teams evaluating professional services candidates.
Which industries hire the most remote professional services engineers?
Remote professional services engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors run distributed product and delivery teams that depend on remote professional services engineers to onboard clients, manage implementations, and support integrations without requiring on-site presence.
