Tips for Your Remote Travel Nurse RN Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote travel nurse rn openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your license, specialty, and schedule and apply directly without sorting through unfiltered national boards.
Highlight multi-state licensure upfront
Remote travel nurse rn employers screen for Nurse Licensure Compact participation or active licenses in multiple states before reading anything else. Put your compact states or individual state licenses in your resume header so remote hiring teams see coverage immediately.
Document your EHR and telehealth platform fluency
Remote clinical teams assume you'll work inside platforms like Epic, Cerner, or telehealth dispatch tools without IT support nearby. List every EHR and virtual care platform you've used by name, including your level of proficiency, so remote employers don't have to guess.
Prepare to demonstrate async clinical communication
Remote travel nurse rn interviews often include a written scenario where you document a patient situation or hand off a case in a message. Practice writing concise, complete clinical notes and SBAR summaries so your written communication reads as clearly as your verbal skills.
Target telehealth and staffing firms with distributed teams
Remote-first telehealth companies and healthcare staffing agencies that run distributed clinical operations hire travel nurse rns remotely far more consistently than traditional hospital systems. Search specifically for those employer types rather than filtering all nursing postings by the remote tag.
Remote Travel Nurse RN Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote travel nurse rn job?
Remote travel nurse rn roles go to candidates who can demonstrate clinical judgment without in-person supervision, so your application needs to show self-direction and async communication as clearly as your bedside skills. Telehealth companies and remote staffing agencies screen for comfort with electronic health records, written clinical documentation, and the ability to triage and coordinate care digitally. Holding multiple state licenses through the Nurse Licensure Compact gives you a real edge because remote roles often require coverage across state lines.
Which companies hire remote travel nurse rns?
Employers currently hiring remote travel nurse rns include Sentara, CommonSpirit Health, and Trinity Health, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote-first telehealth platforms, healthcare staffing firms with distributed clinical teams, and large health systems running virtual care programs are the most consistent sources of remote travel nurse rn openings.
Can you get a remote travel nurse rn job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level travel nurse rn roles are harder to land because you'll be expected to manage clinical situations independently from day one without a charge nurse down the hall. Telehealth triage companies and remote patient monitoring programs are the most common entry points for newer nurses. Showing proficiency with EHR platforms, completing a telehealth certification, and being able to walk through a clinical decision-making scenario in writing can substitute for years of floor experience when applying.
Do you need a degree for remote travel nurse rn jobs?
Usually, but the specific degree requirement depends on the role. Most remote travel nurse rn positions require at minimum an Associate Degree in Nursing with an active RN license, and many telehealth employers prefer a BSN. Remote employers weigh active multi-state licensure, EHR proficiency, and demonstrated clinical outcomes alongside your degree, so a strong practice record and relevant certifications carry real weight in the hiring decision.
Which industries hire the most remote travel nurse rns?
Remote travel nurse rn roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Non-Profit & Social Services, and Insurance, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors rely on distributed clinical teams to deliver care coordination, telehealth services, and patient monitoring across multiple states without requiring nurses to be on-site.
