Patient Consent and Research Support Research Data Coordinator

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is home to internationally recognized programs dedicated to advancing cancer research, patient care, prevention, and education. The Lymphoma & Myeloma research program supports innovative translational and clinical research efforts that accelerate discoveries and improve outcomes for patients with hematologic malignancies.

The Research Data Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting patient-facing research activities, biospecimen collection operations, and research protocol compliance. The Research Data Coordinator works closely with clinical teams, investigators, and laboratory personnel to coordinate research activities and ensure accurate documentation and regulatory compliance. The Research Data Coordinator contributes directly to the successful execution of MTB-supported research protocols and the advancement of translational cancer research at UT MD Anderson.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting clinical or translational research programs, coordinating patient-facing research activities, managing research documentation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary clinical teams. Experience with research protocol compliance, biospecimen collection processes, and specimen shipment coordination is highly desirable.

Minimum $21.15/hour - Midpoint $26.44/hour - Maximum $31.73/hour

Responsibilities
Patient Consent & Research Support

• Perform and maintain informed consent for MTB-supported research protocols in accordance with institutional policies, study requirements, and human subjects research guidelines.
• Work onsite to support patient-facing research activities.
• Maintain close coordination with clinical teams and the MTB laboratory.
• Ensure all required patient consents are current, accurately documented, and readily available to the MTB team.
• Communicate with patients regarding research participation and study-related activities.
• Coordinate communication with patients and clinical teams regarding specimen collections and study requirements.
• Maintain accurate research documentation related to patient consent activities.
• Keep the MTB team informed of new enrollments, consent updates, protocol modifications, and other relevant research activities.

Research Orders & Collection Coordination

• Coordinate research order requests with physicians, nurses, clinical research coordinators, and other clinical teams.
• Coordinate biospecimen collections to support research protocol requirements.
• Maintain and regularly update the research collection calendar.
• Ensure upcoming collections, research orders, and study requirements are accurately reflected in scheduling tools.
• Monitor scheduled collections and proactively identify collection needs and deadlines.
• Communicate collection requirements to appropriate team members.
• Communicate missing information and resolve collection-related issues with clinical teams.
• Communicate collection schedule changes and protocol updates to appropriate stakeholders.
• Ensure research orders are accurately documented and aligned with applicable study requirements.
• Ensure patient information and specimen requirements are accurately documented and consistent with study protocols.

Biospecimen Shipping & Coordination

• Assist with the handling of research specimens for shipment to the MTB laboratory and designated institutional or external laboratories.
• Assist with specimen shipment documentation and coordination activities.
• Support the development of shipping instructions for new research protocols.
• Support the implementation of shipping workflows and protocol-specific shipment requirements.
• Ensure shipping requirements and instructions are clearly communicated to the research team.
• Prepare shipping documentation, manifests, airway bills, specimen identifiers, and other required materials.
• Verify shipping documentation, manifests, airway bills, specimen identifiers, and other required materials for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate shipments with MTB team members, core laboratories, couriers, and research collaborators.
• Track specimen shipments and assist with resolution of shipping delays or issues.
• Maintain accurate shipment records and supporting documentation.

EDUCATION

• Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE
