Pay Range: Based on NIH scale $63.480 - $77.076

Summary
Incumbent performs molecular, cellular, and immunology work and experiments under limited supervision, utilizing advanced degrees of technical proficiency. Designs, initiates, and performs complex scientific research experiments within a Translational Medicine research laboratory. Evaluates data, and prepares final reports/papers based on experimental results. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Required Job Qualifications:
A mature and motivated individual who is well trained in areas of molecular biology, cell biology, and immunology
- Earned MD or PhD in biological sciences or equivalent. Molecular biology, cell biology or immunology PhD preferred.
- Expertise in molecular biology (PCR, RT-PCR, RNA seq), cell culture, immune functional assays utilizing patient samples, ELISA assays, and flow cytometry (FACS).
- Expertise in working with relevant experimental models of disease.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, efficient and interacts well with others as part of a team.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and perform laboratory work on several concurrent research projects.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Strong communication, data analysis, computer and organizational skills.
- Expertise with confocal imaging techniques and with high-content screening platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Plans and directs experiments related to molecular and cellular biology, and immunology research, including the planning and execution of an assigned project.
- Identifies an original research project, experiments, and potential research directions related to research activities; collects, evaluates, interprets and provides documentation of research data to accomplish research objectives.
- Work collaboratively with Rush University physicians and clinicians to obtain patient specimens and patient clinical data.
- Provides own data collection, preparation of manuscripts, and research papers for presentation and/or publications.
- Maintains a safe laboratory environment and ensures compliance with governmental and University policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Performs other job related assignments as assigned.
- May also be required to supervise research employees and/or nonexempt staff.
