INTRODUCTION
Mass General Brigham relies on a wide range of professionals, including doctors, nurses, business people, tech experts, researchers, and systems analysts to advance our mission. As a not-for-profit, we support patient care, research, teaching, and community service, striving to provide exceptional care. We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.
Job Summary
We are recruiting a postdoctoral fellow with research experience in affective or clinical neuroscience or in a related field of psychology to join our dynamic team in the Clinical Neuroscience Laboratory of Sex Differences in the Brain. If a clinician, clinical service opportunities are available. We are affiliated with Harvard Medical School.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires the individual to have expertise in functional MRI. Knowledge of paradigm development, data analytic software (e.g., SPM, FSL), and statistical underpinnings of fMRI are required. Experience with psychiatric disorders and interest in sex differences are preferable.
Our ongoing fMRI studies focus on emotion/mood and memory circuitries coupled with hormones, cardiophysiology, and markers of immune function. The primary studies for which we are currently recruiting are investigating the prenatal stress-immune programming of sex differences in stress/emotion circuitry, major depression, comorbidity with cardiovascular disease, and risk for Alzheimer’s disease. The position requires implementing fMRI methods, including imaging acquisition, development of project-specific methods (for example using ROI analysis), and utilization of advanced statistical methods to analyze data combining fMRI/sMRI/DTI with ANS, hormone, and immune physiology (assessed from blood-based proteomics and transcriptomics), as well as MRI-based neurovascular structure/function data. They will also be responsible for preparing manuscripts for publication, preparing study findings and presentations for professional meetings, assisting with grant preparation, and supervising research assistants. There are many opportunities for education and growth in multiple domains in which we operate: sex differences in brain, neuroendocrinology, advanced neuroimaging training, neuroanatomy, neuro-immune interface, neural-cardiac interface, and neurovascular structure/function. The studies are based at Massachusetts General Hospital and the world-leading Athinoula Martinos Center for Brain Imaging, in collaboration with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and others outside of the Harvard system.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must have a PhD, ScD in clinical or cognitive neuroscience, psychology, or related field or have an MD with fMRI expertise. Experience with psychiatric disorders, particularly affective disorders, is highly preferable.
The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $71,750 annually.
