Research Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a research job in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles hires research professionals most actively in life sciences and biotech near the Biotech Corridor, in entertainment and media research around Hollywood and Culver City, in healthcare systems concentrated in Westwood and the Eastside, and in think tanks and policy organizations downtown. Candidates who tailor their materials to the industry they're targeting, and who can show familiarity with the specific datasets or methods that sector uses, tend to move faster through hiring here than generalists do.
Which companies hire researchs in Los Angeles?
Companies currently hiring researchs in Los Angeles include University of Southern California, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and UCLA Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Los Angeles draws a wide mix of employers, from major academic medical centers and entertainment studios to biotech startups and independent policy institutes spread across the metro.
Are there remote research jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the type of work: desk-based and analytical research roles are frequently remote-eligible, while lab, clinical, and field research roles are almost always on-site. About 39% of research openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which is more common in policy, market, and qualitative roles than in biomedical or physical sciences positions.
How can I get a research job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is through research assistant or coordinator roles at the city's large hospital systems, UCLA and USC research programs, and entertainment analytics teams, all of which regularly hire candidates with relevant coursework or internship experience rather than full professional credentials. Demonstrating hands-on skills such as survey design, data cleaning, or literature review in a portfolio or work sample gives you a concrete edge over applicants who rely solely on their degree.
Which industries hire the most researchs in Los Angeles?
Most research openings in Los Angeles sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, and Technology & Software, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Los Angeles's combination of world-class medical institutions, a large entertainment industry with deep audience research needs, and a growing tech and venture ecosystem keeps demand for research professionals unusually broad compared with most other metros.
