DESCRIPTION
As a Senior Risk Analyst on the AWS Sustainability Controllership Team, you will support the design, execution, and monitoring of risk and control activities across Amazon's sustainability reporting ecosystem. You will contribute to key workstreams — including carbon emissions, water stewardship, renewable energy, and location data — by performing control testing, identifying gaps in data quality, and escalating emerging risks. You will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure that sustainability data flowing into external disclosures is accurate, complete, and audit-ready, while building foundational expertise in controllership frameworks and regulatory reporting requirements.
Why This Role Stands Out:
- High-impact work that directly supports Amazon's annual Sustainability Report and global regulatory filings.
- Greenfield opportunity to define sustainability controllership best practices from the ground up.
- Cross-functional exposure across Finance, Technology, Legal, Public Policy, and Sustainability teams.
- Innovation-driven — our team is building AI-powered GRC tools and next-generation dashboards at scale.
- Strong career trajectory in a space expanding rapidly due to global regulatory demand.
- Mission-driven — accuracy here matters for the planet, not just the balance sheet.
Key job responsibilities
- Designing and executing process-level and data-level controls across key sustainability metrics, including Carbon, Waste, Water, Community, and Workplace Health & Safety.
- Supporting data reconciliation, consistency checks, and substantiation processes for metrics included in Amazon's annual Sustainability Report and regulatory filings.
- Partnering with Sustainability Tech, FinTech, and Business teams to onboard applications and datasets to GRC platforms.
- Contributing to the development of scalable reporting tools, including controls and data quality dashboards, to improve efficiency and transparency across the program.
- Supporting compliance with emerging regulatory frameworks, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and other global disclosure requirements.
- Participating in Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews and cross-functional Meetings, providing clear and concise updates on workstream status and risk posture.
