Risk Management Analyst Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a risk management analyst job in Chicago?
Focus your search on Chicago's Loop and River North, where financial institutions, insurance carriers, and commodities firms cluster most of their risk functions. Candidates who stand out typically hold a CFA, FRM, or PRM credential and can demonstrate experience with enterprise risk frameworks or regulatory compliance relevant to Illinois-chartered financial entities. Targeting mid-size insurance companies along the North Shore or large banks headquartered downtown gives you the broadest pool of openings.
Which companies hire risk management analysts in Chicago?
Employers hiring risk management analysts in Chicago right now include Deloitte, Aon, and CIBC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's hiring landscape skews toward large financial institutions, global insurance groups, and commodity exchanges, reflecting the city's standing as a major derivatives and futures trading hub.
Are there remote risk management analyst jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though availability depends on the function, with model validation and data-heavy analytical roles more likely to go remote than positions requiring daily collaboration with trading desks or compliance teams. About 30% of risk management analyst openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at large downtown financial firms. Portfolio risk and quantitative analysis roles tend to carry the greatest remote flexibility in this market.
How can I get a risk management analyst job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through a junior risk or credit analyst role at one of the city's regional banks or insurance carriers, many of which run structured analyst programs for recent graduates. Firms in the West Loop and the Fulton Market district increasingly hire entry-level analysts with strong Excel and SQL skills to support enterprise risk teams. Internships at Chicago-based commodity trading firms or insurance groups also provide a direct pipeline, and a background in finance, statistics, or economics from an Illinois university carries weight with local hiring managers.
Which industries hire the most risk management analysts in Chicago?
Most risk management analyst openings in Chicago sit in Investment & Asset Management, Consulting & Professional Services, and Accounting & Auditing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's role as a global center for derivatives trading, insurance underwriting, and commodity markets makes those sectors the dominant employers of risk talent in the city.
